Wasn't sure what to expect today with all the crappy weather and nasty ocean the past few days... Was pleasantly surprised once we hit the ocean. Had a swell but it was fishable. First drop was not good with only a few fish coming up. Made a move to a little shallower water and found a better pick for the rest of the day. Nice mix of Sea Bass, a couple big whiting, some ling and a keeper fluke. Fish were ice cold. A nice 2 pound Sea Bass took the pool. Headed out with just a handfull of guys this morning. Got a little ugly for a while but we hung in there waiting for the change of tide. Read bait and finally had fish on top, all four about 5 minutes!!! Caught a few and never found them again. Fished several area's with no more luck. Very nasty day today with horrible conditions. Just a handful of customers showed but after yesterdays bite I figured we had a small window to catch a few fish, so we sailed. Sorry I did as we caught the first of the ebb with the SE wind on the way out. Got nasty fast but we made it to where we caught yesterday. Read plenty of bait and fish on the bottom. Had to put the time in today to get it done.....only a few fish in the AM with some pretty crappy conditions. After the tide change we took a ride and got lucky, found birds working with Bass busting on top. Top water, Jigs & Shads all worked. Tough fishing for us the past couple trips, seems the troll & live bait bite has been the ticket the past couple of days. After yesterdays late bite I figured we'd be in for a long morning....I was right, matter of fact, it was a long day!! Got out to the area we fished yesterday, read plenty of fish on the bottom with some nice shots of bait. Watched the trollers catching steady but they wouldn't bite for us. Morning started out with a lot of searching for the bite. Found plenty of bait but only 1 fish to show. Bite turned on at the change of tide with fish busting on top, it was game on!! Pat lead the way with 5 nice bass along with several customers landing 4-3-2 fish each. The bite finally died as the South wind came on pretty good at the end of the day. Well it's that time once again! After a long winter we will be back at it starting this Saturday the 27th. Fishing for Striped Bass. We will keep our fall sailing time of 7:00am daily.
