Although our website has been quiet over the past few months, plenty of activity is happening behind the scenes. Last week we took delivery of our new scoreboard, which was funded by a generous donor from Woodstock. We plan to install it this spring in left field, and it will be powered entirely by the sun (solar)! Second, we have a new storage shed that will also be installed in the spring, providing ample storage for all our equipment needs. Our 2023 Spring Baseball season for Cal Ripken is nearly underway. Team assignments are complete, and coaches are actively preparing for the upcoming season. WAYBS has been hard at work and has a few exciting things going on: We've held numerous Strike Zone clinics and a few Sunday afternoon practices at the Woodstock High School gym in preparation for the spring season. Vail Field is to be re-laser graded and manicured. The existing permanent mound will be removed, and a Babe Ruth/Cal Ripken-approved new artificial mound will be installed. Our Spring season is underway with our Cal Ripken Majors team on a hot streak starting out 4-0. Both Cal Ripken Minors groups are developing great as well. Dugout construction is moving along great thanks to our skilled volunteer little league parents! We received our new semi-permanent pitching mound at Vail that can be moved back/forth to accommodate three pitching distances needed: 46' for Minors, 50' for Majors and 60'6" for Middle School/Babe Ruth.
