Danish Fabric shops

Se dette indlæg på dansk her. In Danish, the word for fabric is the same as the word for drugs. So I often make a joke about that, seeing as I have a probably unhealthy amount of fabrics that I’m not sure I’ll be able to use in my lifetime. In my defence, some of it was inherited from my mom. But a lot of it, I’ll admit, I bought myself. Which means I have seen the inside of a fabric shop or two in my time. In this post, I’ll share the ones I frequent most – in Denmark. I’m based in Mittle Jutland (mainland), so most of the mentioned shops will be local to me. It’s by no means a full list, b ..read more

Mag-C 2024

A couple of weeks ago, I went to Mag-C in Germany. The week leading up to the event was very intense, because Zibartas and I decided on last-minute con-crunch costumes. He already had his Mantis Blades done, but he wanted to make the rest of Sandayu Oda’s outfit to wear with them. Since he was wearing Mercy wings and Mantis Blades, I in return had to wear small, practical cosplays, so I decided to make a Cyberpunk 2077-inspired outfit. Since I mostly focused on helping Zibartas with the sewing parts of his cosplay, I just stitched up a crop top-thingy and then added random clothes and belts ..read more

Review: Funky Lenses

As you may have noticed, coloured contacts has been part of my makeup box since pretty much my first cosplay. I don’t wear glasses or lenses for vision (yet), so for me my first time wearing lenses was a bit of a nightmare. I think the first few times putting in lenses, I spent almost an hour. I even remember one particularly stressful convention where I ended up having to get my husband to put in my lenses, because I was just too tense. It’s been more than 10 years now of me using coloured lenses for cosplay, so I would say I have a lot of experience, despite not being an everyday lens wea ..read more

Copenhagen Gaming Week 2024

A couple of weeks ago, I attended Copenhagen Gaming Week, which is a brand new gaming-oriented convention in Copenhagen, Denmark. I was really impressed by how well everything was run given it was the first year of the event. I attended as an invited guest and judged the Novice Cosplay Contest on Saturday and had a panel on Sunday. I think it was really great that they had both a novice and an expert show, since I remember my first time competing and it’s quite intimidating having never tried it before and competing against all the pros. The novice competitors all did great and brought some ..read more

Merry Harry Christmas!

I already posted this on my Harry Potter-blog, but I thought I could share it here as well. I’m taking a bit of a break from cosplay this month to focus on making gifts and getting in holiday spirits! This was one of many projects – but some I cannot share, since they will be gifts. Hope you’re all enjoying your December, regardless of whether you’re celebrating Christmas or not! — I’m slowly working towards making our Christmas tree more Harry Potter-themed. This year’s additions were decorations gifted from my friends for Christmas, a few that I bought myself at a convention earlier in the ..read more

“Magiske Dage” in Odense

This weekend I visited Magiske Dage (Magical days) in Odense. It’s a yearly city festival in the Danish town of Odense (hometown of famous fairytale author H.C. Andersen). Since 2002, they’ve been hosting this event, which originally was a Harry Potter-festival (until 2018 when they had to change the name, because of copyright issues). It’s mostly aimed at kids, but adult fantasy fans are of course also welcome. I went with my husband and met up with a couple of our friends who live nearby. I haven’t spend much time in Odense before and didn’t know the city that well, so it was a bit confusi ..read more

Huskylock 910 knife repair

So last year, I replaced my beloved Husqvarna Viking Huskylock 910 with a brand new serger, because my Huskylock just wasn’t running well. The dealer I bought the new machine from offered to take my old as a trade-in, but I wasn’t ready to say goodbye to it. I bought it in 2013, when I just started cosplaying. I’ve used it on so many different projects, both cosplay, regular clothes and things for the house. It’s like an old friend. So for a year and a half, it’s just been in the back of a closet, collecting dust. Today I was looking for something else in my closet, and happened to find a bo ..read more

Gamebox 2023 happened a little over a week ago, and it was really great! This year, the event was more focused on the LAN-part, which meant there were fewer booths and fewer cosplayers, but more people overall. None the less, we had a really great time, and our booth was busy most of the time. Together with the Warcrafters, I hosted a booth that exhibited our cosplay props and we were there to spread the good word of cosplay, which I feel like we did with success. Up until the moment I left home, I wasn’t sure what cosplay I would wear the first day, friday. Since we arrived early, set up ou ..read more

New cosplay: Astral Warden

I finally finished my Astral Warden cosplay! And this time, I didn’t take a year to make a write-up about it – it’s on my page already. You can find it here or under write-ups in the topmenu. I also added photos of it to the gallery. This was a cosplay I started last summer, but it took me forever to find the right fabrics. It wasn’t until I went on summer holidays and visited an amazing fabric shop that I finally found the fabrics I needed. And as is typical for me, I finished it about 80% then totally lost motivation to work on it for months. Then I rushed it the last few weeks before a co ..read more

Scificon 2023

My first event of the year was Scificon Randers. It was a good opportunity to finally push to finish my new Astral Warden druid, and I did manage to make it wearable – I finished it the day before the event. There are things still to change, but I’m happy with how it turned out in the end. On to Scificon. I originally joined the crew just as a cosplay judge, but I have since been helping a bit with improving on the cosplay part by being part of the organizer team, and this year we had an actual show instead of the usual photo contest we had the previous years. So we had 3 judges – me, Zibart ..read more
