Swedish metalcore band Leach bring forward their fourth album, New Model Of Disbelief.
Leach is a band with an evolving sound. In their earlier work, you might hear a melodic form of death metal, passing on to thrash and then perhaps metalcore, which is what I have labeled them. Any particular category is a bit simplistic for their sound, which has its own groove and is quite variegated across any album, most especially the new one. The band is Markus Wikander (vocals, guitar), Robert Karlsson (guitar), Anders Nordlander (bass), and Joachim Dahlström (drums).
The set begins on the charge with ..read more

Melodic metalcore band Sujin present their debut album, Save Our Souls.
Operating for about ten years as Whisper Night, the band has changed its name to Sujin and now serves up the first full-length album under the new moniker. Headquartered in Laval, France, the veteran musicians have taken on the theme of environmental degradation and “a planet on the verge of collapse – the Earth” to create a concept album to launch the new era of their expressions. The band is Julien Mellier (vocals), Stève Richard (guitar), Matt Lemonier (guitar), Quentin Bruyère (bass), and Liam Barbier (drums).

The center of the vortex held last week when Meshuggah, In Flames, and Whitechapel came to the casino and spun the wheel.
Meshuggah
It was an edgy Tuesday at Hard Rock Live in northern Indiana. The three bands playing were purveyors of latter-day metal, ranging from metalcore to deathcore to djent. If we think of an umbrella term for the music played, we might try to call it melodic progressive technical death groove metal. I like that – hope it catches on
Whitechapel
Whitechapel kicked off the show. The band started out in 2006, playing deathcore in Knoxville, and waking the younger crowd fro ..read more

Co-headliners Fit For An Autopsy and Exodus made a stop in Joliet to work their magic at The Forge.
Fit For An Autopsy
It was a wild night at The Forge with thrash, deathcore, metalcore, and death metal all on the bill when four road-rugged bands rolled through town: Fit For An Autopsy, Exodus, Darkest Hour, and Undeath.
First to take the stage was New York death metal band Undeath. Continuing to promote their latest record It’s Time…To Rise From The Grave (2022), they made a meal of the early-arrivers at The Forge on Saturday night. They played a couple of songs from It’s Time, and drew most ..read more

Brutal French death metallers Embrace Your Punishment have crafted fresh aggression for your listening enjoyment, Made Of Stone.
Embrace Your Punishment is a death metal band that has been operating under this name since 2009. “Death metal” doesn’t capture all that their music is – you will hear hardcore, death- and metalcore, and outrageous rampaging brutality throughout the set. The band is from France so they might not be as familiar to US audiences as some others. Now is a good time to become acquainted with their mighty onslaught. The band is Clement (drums), Geoffroy Mansard (guitar), V ..read more
