I had the pleasure of meeting Chris twice through my friend and AudioVein photographer Casey Jade. I let it be known I was highly interested in chatting with Chris and dicussing his music career. Eventually we set something up and we covered all the main bases. Catching up on his last decade after leaving the band, going back to before joining Chimaira, what lead up to him getting into the band, the albums and tours, their awesome DVD’s, him leaving the band, their 2017 reunion show, what’s next, and more! I continue to be surprised at the shows AudioVein gets to cover. This was most certainly in the top 3 “Am I really here for this?” events. The METAL TOUR OF THE YEAR! I did a review of their latest album “Dystopia” a couple weeks ago, make sure to read that and listen to it now that it’s out! Enjoy our conversation ..read more

Caliban – “Dystopia”

Caliban have been among the most consistent bands in all of Metalcore the last 25 years. One of the best things about them is that they’ve managed to tweak their sound along the way, while maintaining their integrity. By all accounts, any fan of bands like As I Lay Dying, Unearth, All That Remains, and August Burns Red should know and love Caliban. I was lucky enough to be shown them back in 2003 with “Forsaken Horizon” and have been hooked ever since. The perfect blend of big melodic choruses, destructive breakdowns, and crushing riffs; Caliban is as prime of an example of “how to Metalcore ..read more
