According to a Jan 22nd 2024 Hillsborough County press release, DUI enforcement will not be letting up anytime soon in 2024. After locking in additional FDOT funding for increased patrols through Sept 2024, we expect the Tampa area to continue to be the Florida’s DUI hotspot. In our previous blog we highlighted that the Tampa Bay Area is Florida’s DUI hotspot for several years in a row. Further, Pinellas County is the place where law enforcement makes the most DUI arrests in the entire state. Of the 44,000 DUI arrests in the state of Florida, 7967 or 18% happened in Hillsborough and Pinellas counties. By comparison, Miami and Broward only had 4,700 combined. This is clearly the state’s “DUI Hotspot” due to aggressive enforcement by local agencies. In fact in 2022, they make twice as many DUI arrests in Tampa than they do in Miami.
