Every four years, Americans pile into the polling places extremely eager to vote for the candidate they believe to be slightly less horrible. But with the electoral college system that elects America’s chief executive, many Americans think, “Does my vote even matter?”
Originally created at the Constitutional Convention in 1787, the electoral college was a compromise made by founding fathers. Some founding fathers wanted the president to be elected by a general popular vote, while others thought it should be done by Congress solely: hence the creation of the complicated electoral college.

The Wildcats are coming into the series opener after sweeping their last two opponents (Streamwood and Elgin).
In the first game against the Maroons, sophomore Ashton Aldaco threw a no-hitter in a five-inning mercy rule win (10-0).
The Fenton Bison are – so far – winless this season after finishing eighth in the Upstate Eight last year.
Junior Zach Williamson started on the bump for the Wildcats, Williamson has a 4.55 ERA which is second on the team.

Earlier this month, FCCLA underwent a three-day trip to Springfield to compete in the state championship, under the guidance of teachers Brittney Bauer and Emily Renteria.
During the three-day trip that took place between April 11-13, students separately attended competitions, which lasted about four hours. Senior Rudra Gor took home a gold award in salad production, and was recognized as the “most outstanding.”

National Honor Society students hosted a Cookout for Cancer on the WCCHS football field on April 19.
The barbecue, which raised money for the American Cancer Society, consisted of guest speakers who told attendees about their personal experiences with cancer, and a set of activities, including games, face painting, and dunking students and faculty into a pool of ice-cold water.
Guest speaker and Board of Education representative Kathe Doremus shared her journey with cancer, and spoke about the significance of spreading awareness and advocating for change. She was diagnosed with Leukemia in 201 ..read more

The boys’ tennis team was finally able to play against another school after having their meets with Larkin, Addison, and Bartlett canceled due to poor weather.
On Monday, April 15, the boys began warming up immediately after school – many had to change from their formal attire due to the government full session event that day. Plainfield Central arrived at 3:50 p.m. and was allotted time to warm-up, as they had traveled around 40 minutes to arrive at the West Chicago Community High School.
