You have to write it down

If you look at our January luxe print, you might think that it’s a bit early to be thinking about 2025! And way too early to be writing anything down.  But here’s the thing, we forget. If you’ve ever kept a diary, you’ll find yourself reading past as if they were written by an entirely different person.  Surprisingly you were worried about attending an average-sounding event. Or excited by a day out you are unable to recall. And then there’s the 3 months where your entries are obsessed with dinosaur stickers/a boy band/toast. This is one of the reasons why stationery exists; to help ..read more

Let’s talk about habit tracking. We’d all like to create one of those glorious year-in-pixels charts and fill it in every day but let’s face it there are too many things going on. When you’re juggling multiple planners, have too many apps on your phone and still can’t keep on top of the washing up then are you going to colour in a square? But it doesn’t stop us trying and failing leaving a trail of partially completed grids, charts and trackers behind us. Look at this horrible specimen from my past… Not doing very well at actually filling this in Having failed to develop the habit of logging a ..read more

Prep for your mid-year review At the end of the month, you’ll be halfway through 2023. So plan in some time to acknowledge what’s, ditch goals that no longer resonate for you and plan for the next six months. It doesn’t have to be a formal process but we always find that writing it down helps to clarify our thoughts. Plus it can be fun to re-read in the future. What I ate We love trackers and diaries of all kinds but when we talk about recording meals we’re not talking about a calorie log! No, we’re thinking with an eye to the future. if you do any kind of seasonal eating it can be hard to rem ..read more

Make a bank holiday plan May has three – yes three! – bank holidays this year. For some a shorter working week is very appealing but it can also be disruptive as you try to squeeze the work of five days into four. We’re planning carefully. That way we can spend time with our families but still get subscriptions and other stationery orders packed and posted. It’s also prompted some interesting discussion about how to make the four-day week work. Add desk tidying to your schedule Sunday resets are having a moment and being ready to go for the week ahead is rather nice. My current planner starts ..read more

We are always being told not to multitask. That multitasking is not only bad for you but in fact an illusion. You only think that you are totally focusing on something like writing a blog post while you are also looking at Tiktok or stirring a pan of simmering millet while drinking a mug of tea. Whenever I consider a standing or walking desk I wonder if it’s essentially multitasking. I then reject it on these grounds (and not because I would rather lounge on a floor cushion while working). But the truth is that multitasking sometimes feels like the only possible way to do things. There are so ..read more

Big love for this site that helps you to create a colour palette and had resulted in some combinations that we wouldn’t have immediately have considered. Get crafty and make a DIY bullet journal stencil This on procrastination from Chris Gillebeau made us wonder if there is a market for dread list pads And while we’re on the subject, should we really be focusing on one thing at a time? The answer is it depends… surely the notepad in this tweet would be a great motivator! P.s. Have you had a nose around our shop recently? It’s the year of the great shed

Anyone else felt like 2022 was so busy that it was going to crash into Christmas? That you could almost hear the squeaking of the brakes as it attempted to slow down. Thankfully I wasn’t buying 486 Christmas gifts or hosting a festive lunch for 10 because I do not know where the time to do that would have been. This is why my word for 2023 is the rather unglamorous ‘shed’. Not the wooden thing at the bottom of your garden. Instead the thing your cat does all over the rug or that you intend to do to some pounds via a better diet and more exercise. Yes, I could have chosen ‘discard’, ‘less’ or ..read more
