With some luck, I have had the time and breastmilk to oblige him. As something of a scientist and a generally curious person, I dedicated some time to find out more about breastmilk and bolster my commitment (breastfeeding takes a lot of time and effort).
Breastmilk Benefits: A Variable Elixir of Life
Breastmilk is a magical thing and part of its magic is its variability. No two breastmilks are i ..read more

I don’t need to tell you that there are several industries focused on selling you things to improve your skin or at least to look younger and better. From skin care and makeup, cosmetic surgeries and other manipulations, there’s no shortage of snake oils to buy. You may have read the title of this blog and thought that it was about sperm, or that I wrote spermidine or spermine twice. The two words are nearly identical, but they are the names of two distinct molecules. As you’ve probably guessed by their names, they were originally found in sperm. Anton van Leeuwenhoek, the microscopy pioneer, described crystals in dried human semen in 1678, and named them spermine and spermidine.

As you probably know, gray hair is a common side effect of getting older. But why does this happen, and is it inevitable or can to be prevented or even, reversed?
To understand this process, let's start with how your hair gets its color in the first place.
