Mrs. That's Your Job We had just started boarding and I was in the front of the airplane greeting people as they boarded. I saw an elderly lady get on with her walker that had a tag, which meant it would not be coming on the airplane and would be meeting her once we landed. I said hello to her and another woman who was traveling with her. I informed them the walker could be set by the door on the jet bridge. The woman who was helping the elderly lady roughly handed me the walker. I repeated she had to leave the walker on the jet bridge. She immediately got frustrated and angrily bark ..read more

7 Tips For Flight Anxiety/ Nervous Flyers

I recently became aware that the number of people who suffer from flight anxiety is more common than I thought. It makes me sad that people are genuinely fearful of flying and potentially limit their travel to avoid it. As a flight attendant and a very frequent flyer, I am here to share some tips that will hopefully help you feel more comfortable and at ease. Research and statistics show flying is actually one of the safest forms of transportation. Flight crews are well trained and know the in ands outs of the aircraft. Pilots and flight attendants go through rigorous annual recertification t ..read more

My Unexpected 72hours in Shanghai, China

What I thought was going to be a fun and spontaneous trip, quickly turned into almost being deported upon landing in China for my connection.  My plan was simply to fly to Vietnam and spend some vacation days getting to know the mysterious country. What I failed to do was check if a visa was required for entry. Sometimes it becomes so easy for me (as a flight attendant) to think I can fly anywhere, but this wasn't the first time I've gotten a slap on the wrist.  I was flying from Los Angeles, California to Shanghai, China. I had about a couple hours th ..read more

Airline Family

I remember mid-training, before I earned my wings, looking across a hotel shuttle at a crew sitting together. I couldn’t really picture it just yet. Being long away  from home, who knows where, with just my little suitcase and my crew.  Little did I know, my crew members would immediately become my second family. I have never in my life experienced the amount of loyalty and support that my inflight crew members have given me.  After earning my wings, I remember walking through the airport and seeing other airline crew and nodding in respect. I felt connected in a way. Tha ..read more

Traveling to Countries with Cultural Differences

As a traveler, I have learned to embrace all ‘differences’ with an open mind. Difference in cultures, customs and ways of life. There is something fascinating about how you and I, though so much alike, can live completely different worlds: physically, mentally, spiritually and in many other countless ways. Whenever I travel I want to blend in. I want to see the life of the locals, go to the markets, try traditional food, celebrate local festivities. What I enjoy the most is feeling the spirit of the people and being one with where I am. Understanding that there are diffe ..read more

I was working a redeye flight. One of my coworkers went through the cabin collecting trash when he spotted something on the floor. He reached down and picked it up with his pen. He brought it back to the galley to show us. It was a pair of panties! -Anonymous Someone Missing Something I was the only girl in the crew working. We were all in the back galley talking when we heard a jam against the LAV door. It was the configuration where the LAV doors are bifold. We turned and saw that the middle part of the door was sticking out, so you could see through the crack of the door. We saw a ..read more

Flying During the Covid-19 Pandemic

I remember when news first broke out about the foreign virus, it seemed so far away. The infectious Coronavirus however quickly spread throughout different countries and before I knew it we were under quarantine.  It still feels unreal and almost like we are living in a movie. Did all of this really just happen? When the news broke out about the virus reaching the states, the company assured everyone the likelihood of contagion was extremely low. I would see guests come on with their masks, frantically sanitize their seats, and decline service and although it seemed strange at first ..read more

The Bad Boy Now a days there are so many pets, emotional support animals, as well as service animals that are able to fly with their owners. I am one to admit I get so excited anytime we have a furry friend onboard. This day however, the “emotional” support dog was having a bad day. So bad, that he bit a passenger in the gate area before boarding. When the crew and I arrived to the plane, we were told all of this information. I was working the lead position and it was a hard “no, we will not be flying the passenger and the dog” for me and after speaking with the captain he also agreed ..read more

3:28am I awoke to my phone ringing. My eyes could barely open. "Hello..?" I whispered, "Good morning, Guadalupe we have a trip for you..." That is how my Monday began. It was a 3 day trip, with a report time of 6:00am. Luckily, I had my bags already packed from the night before. I quickly got dressed and was out the door. Once I arrived to the airport, I went down to the crew room for check in. As I checked in I found out I was working the lead position. I smiled, reminiscing the first time I ever worked lead and how terrified I was with all of the responsibility. Now, it had become sec ..read more
