Today we reach the end of this 13th series of the #AdventBlogs, which has given us 35 different and inspiring posts across nearly six weeks. It has been an honour to curate this series for the 5th time, and I am looking forward to doing so for a 6th time when the series starts again on 1st December. This is the penultimate post of the series, which reaches its conclusion tomorrow. Twice now I have thought we have reached the end only to get some extra contributions, but as I’m scheduling this before we fly to Denmark and won’t be able to schedule any more without my laptop, this is definitely it. We are very close to the end now of this series. Today was planned to be the end, but two last minute post arrived right on the deadline, which has had the effect of extending the series by two days. It feels like the series should be ending now as many people return to work and normal life either today or very soon, but we have two more days to go. Today at home, we are of course not. Welcome to 2024, where as usual our series continues. We carry on until we have no more posts left, but that point is now upon us. I am writing this on 30 December at the point of the deadline for contributions to reach me, and have two more to schedule after this one. The series will conclude on 3 January. It is Saturday, for many people the last major shopping day before Christmas. The quality of the posts in this series has been very strong, and continues to be so. As I write this 23rd December seems a long way away, and by then we will know more about how long our series will last – it’ll definitely go beyond Christmas though. Today at home we have our final Christmas trip to do. We will be repeating our Polar Express experience from last year, and it was an amazing experience. Only a couple of days left now in 2023 and perhaps only a few more left in our series. The deadline for sending a contribution in is fast approaching – today in fact, so be quick if you want to take part. Today at home we will be continuing our de-Christmasing of the house and packing for our early flight tomorrow – we’ve spread these over two days to avoid having to fill an entire day doing them. We are fast approaching the end of 2023, although as I write this it is still pre-Christmas for me. It is another of those in-between days today. I hope you are enjoying this series and its theme of “When I grow up”. I’m writing this over a week before you’re reading it – I often read a post, schedule it, and then forget about it until the day it goes live and read it again, after 1-2 weeks of reflection on it. We have now commenced that period in-between Christmas and New Year where, for many, the days blur into one. Our series is going to continue for a short while at least.
