Guwahati, May 2: In a major crackdown, Assam police on Thursday arrested four suspected gamblers from Assam’s Jorhat for allegedly betting on IPL cricket matches.
The accused has been identified as Rajani Baruah, Raju Mirdha, Arjun Karmakar and Guneswar Gowala of Mariani.
According to police, they were arrested from the Deberapar area of Mariani in Jorhat.

SHILLONG, MAY 3: A government vehicle was torched by miscreants in Shillong on Thursday evening.
The Bolero (ML 01 A 0175) of the Water Resources department was set ablaze while it was parked in the office premises, police said.

The vehicle was totally damaged. It was suspected that miscreants had lobbed a petrol bomb from outside, they said.
A case has been registered and investigation is on to nab the culprits involved in the act.

SHILLONG, MAY 3: East Khasi Hills district police chief Rituraj Ravi on Thursday said police will leave no stone unturned to ensure all perpetrators involved in the petrol bomb attacks on police stations and other government properties are brought to justice.
“We are working overtime and we shall leave no stone unturned in ensuring that all perpetrators are brought to justice and that peace prevails,” Ravi said while speaking to journalists here.
