It's a confirmation & a demonstration of what you have learned Graduations are a way for you to demonstrate that you have learnt the syllabus content for any particular period. They are not compulsory but are the way in which you gain your next belt & move along the journey towards your Black Belt & beyond. Your Instructor will be able to tell you if you have reached the required level & attended enough classes. All students should be guided by the advice of their Instructor. Remember, they have already gone through all the graduations ahead of you and so have a wealth of expe ..read more

There are many benefits to taking up martial arts, so let’s pick them off one by one: To learn to protect yourself & your family Let’s start with an easy one… Probably THE most common reason to learn a martial art is to learn the skills to protect yourself. Every martial art you could possibly learn will teach you this. Every Instructor will have an opinion on which is the best for protection. It doesn’t really matter which one you learn - any martial artist has an instant advantage over any would-be attacker. They will all teach you how to defend yourself and they all have all the other ..read more

Motivation is an incredibly challenging aspect of our make up. One minute you can be riding high on the crest of a wave, with everything going your way, and that feeling of invulnerability, pumped up to face any challenge, and the next, you’re crashing at the bottom, wondering what went wrong, why did you even bother, and is there any way back from it. This happens in all areas of our lives, home life; work life; and especially when it comes to our health and fitness. But why is motivation so important to us and how can we better control it, especially when it comes to our training?? As I’m su ..read more

The next 12 months look to be busy ones for the Prestwich, Oldham & Middleton Centres (most likely across the other Centres too). Not only will we be teaching classes, supporting Graduations, running Seminars & making sure a couple of our Instructors are ready for their Masters Test - we will also be preparing quite a number of students for their Dan Assessments. There could be over 40 across the three NMFMAC Centres! We know what we’re doing - we have a proven formula - but do you know what YOU should be doing to make sure you are ready? 1. 1st Gup Assessment Make sure you have taken ..read more

The world is facing a health crisis from the physical and mental health of the population being at an all time low. This is true not just of adults, but also of our children. Exercise levels are at an all time low and obesity numbers are soaring. People need to get active again. Interestingly, this will also make you less susceptible to the major effects of viruses, such as flu or Covid-19, so the fitter you are, the less likely you are to suffer if you catch one. So the answer to the question is absolutely yes. Tang Soo Do, like any martial art is an excellent option to help you lose weight ..read more
