A huge congratulations to the 9 youngsters from BMMA Rugley (Team SAS) who were selected to compete for Kickboxing GB at the WAKO Europe Kickboxing European Championships in Istanbul last week with Coach @tonyandertonbsc leading the way.  This event was their most successful ever, returning with 8 gold medals, 5 silvers & 3 bronze from our 9 fighters. The standard is so incredibly high at the championships which had 39 European countries in attendance, to even make it on to the team is a massive achievement. Making it to the podium is only achieved by a very small amount of ..read more

Over the years, I have noticed that martial arts are typically a male-dominated sport. If I were to say to you, ‘name a martial artist’, you’d probably say something along the lines of Jackie Chan or Bruce Lee. Most of the population wouldn’t think of a female martial artist at first, if at all. However, the reality is there are so many incredible, talented female martial artists that don’t get nearly as much recognition as they deserve. They work night and day just as hard as their male counterparts, but their work isn’t noticed anywhere near as much as it’s deserved. I believe ..read more

I have been doing BMMA for a year now to help me build my confidence. I really enjoy the classes, but there was one part of the class that I did not like and at first did not take part in. When it came to sparring I wanted to sit it out and it would often make me scared and nervous. I started to spar with Jake and Dan at first, and this made me feel more confident. Jake and Dan, showed me the moves to make and let me work at my own pace. Jake also ..read more

British Military Martial Arts

BMMA always asked how Martial Arts can help children. So we thought we would write a little piece on 5 ways martial arts can help your child.   Martial arts can have a big impact on how children develop socially and how they feel in themselves. These sports are portrayed in films and tv shows as being all about violence, however, in reality martial arts will help your child a lot more than it will hurt them. Whether you ar ..read more
