The fiordland jewel is the best way to see milford sound When I was doing research for our trip to New Zealand, the Milford Sound part of it left me feeling a little confused. I knew there was NO way we would miss Milford on this trip … but I also knew I didn’t want to do it as an out and back drive from Te Anau or Queenstown. I’m the kind of person who likes spending time in places soaking it all in, not just checking things off a checklist. Doing the round trip drive sounded like a long, exhausting day in which we wouldn’t actually get to spend much time in Milford itself, which definitely ..read more

A stunning telluride adventure elopement and celebration with guests We were in Costa Rica when Sommer and Ben’s inquiry came in. I don’t typically do consults when I’m on vacation but I KNEW I had to talk to them immediately. We had a TON in common – Sommer is a lawyer (which I went to school for in a former life) and Ben worked for the same company as my husband! They were also super outdoorsy (Sommer hiked the PCT after law school which is so badass!), total dog lovers, AND lived just ten minutes away from me. When I read that they had lost their home in the Marshall Fire that had burnt do ..read more

An adventure-inspired microwedding in the mountains When Sarah and Greg first reached out about their itty bitty wedding in the Colorado mountains they had a few ideas about what they wanted but had no idea how to make it happen. They knew they wanted a laid-back day in a beautiful place and to spend it celebrating with the people they love. Obviously this was right up my alley! After we tossed around a few ideas they decided to have an intimate wedding in the mountains near Breckenridge and it was PERFECT! We began their day way before sunrise at their AirBnB where they were got ready and t ..read more

why choose between the desert and mountains when you can have both? This one was really special for me! I first met Erica back in 2008-ish, not long after I moved to Colorado when I organized a women’s climb of Crestone Peak, one of Colorado’s 14ers (14,000+ foot mountains). We made the 3.5 hour drive to the San Luis Valley together and by the time we arrived we felt like old friends! Fast forward almost 15 years (and a whole lot of living for both of us) and I was SO excited when she told me she wanted to elope and asked if I wanted to be a part of it! We had originally planned on a hiking ..read more

A totally last minute (and totally epic) elopement in the Colorado mountains As an elopement photographer, one question I get asked all the time is “how much time do we need to plan our elopement?” or “what is the least amount of time you’ve ever planned an elopement in?”. Well, friends. We have a new high score. Katlyn and Trace contacted me … from the airport. They had spontaneously decided to fly to Colorado to get married THE VERY NEXT DAY and had no idea how to make it happen. I was in the middle of a really busy week of shoots but I happened to have that next day free and just knew I ne ..read more

an intimate wedding at spear-o-wigwam ranch in sheridan, wyoming When Andrea and Karl first reached out they weren’t quite sure exactly where they wanted to get married. They just knew they wanted a laid-back day with their closest friends and family in a beautiful place. After tossing around some ideas they decided on a gorgeous microwedding at Spear-O-Wigwam ranch in the Bighorn Mountains of Sheridan, Wyoming. And it was PERFECT! They rented out the entire ranch for their day. All of their guests stayed in the cabins on the property and spent the days leading up to the wedding going for hor ..read more

When Alex and Wyatt first reached out about their elopement they weren’t quite sure where they wanted to elope – they just knew that they wanted a really special day in a beautiful place and for their dog Zeus to be a big part of it. After tossing around some ideas we decided that the Olympic Peninsula would be the perfect place dog-friendly elopement! Ruby Beach, the Hoh Rainforest, and other iconic spots in the park couldn’t have made for a better backdrop for this super special day. One of the biggest challenges in eloping in any national park is that many of them severely restrict where do ..read more

When Wes and Brad first reached out about eloping in Colorado they knew they wanted to go on an epic adventure with two of their besties … but didn’t quite know how to make it happen. After tossing around some ideas they decided that taking to the sky would be the PERFECT way to do this thing and thus their Colorado helicopter elopement was born! Wes and Brad live in Texas and had been together for TWENTY YEARS. We immediately bonded over our mutual love of dogs (Wes and I were texting each other pictures of our pups before we even had their Zoom consult!), camping, and whiskey. I knew this da ..read more
