The body of a “very skinny” Jack Russell pup has been found dumped in a carrier bag in South Yorkshire, and the RSPCA is asking for the public’s help to find out what happened to the poor young dog. Inspector Jack Taylor responded to a call from a member of the public yesterday (6 April) after the female dog’s body was found dumped on wasteland in Mexborough. It is believed the pup had been dumped that same day – as the body was dry despite rainfall the night before. The dog was in a blue Poundland carrier bag, on a brownfield site by Pitt Street, towards Windhill Avenue, in the market town. A ..read more

Months after his disappearance in August, the body Rich Moore, a Colorado hiker, was discovered by a local hunter near Blackhead Peak in southwestern Colorado. He was not alone: next to him was his Jack Russell terrier, Finney. Despite having lost half his body weight, Finney was alive and has since been reunited with Moore’s family. Though the cause of Moore’s passing remains undetermined, authorities do not suspect foul play, according to Sheriff Mike Le Roux. Moore had set out to hike on Blackhead Peak, a towering 12,500-foot mountain east of his Pagosa Springs home, when he was reported mi ..read more

An unlucky in love Jack Russell is hoping to find ‘The One’ in time for Valentine’s Day, after over 200 days in the care of Battersea’s Brands Hatch centre. Seven-year-old Jack arrived at Battersea 217 days ago after a change in his owner’s circumstances. Sadly, since arriving at the much-loved charity, Jack has received little interest from potential matches and has now been in the care of the Kent-based centre for five times as long as the average dog (35 days). Staff believe that that the reason for Jack’s long search for love is due to him lacking confidence in some basic life skills, such ..read more

Mimi has now passed away, but the impact she had on Roger will remain for the rest of his life… “Mimi, my 10-year-old Jack Russell, has helped me through the darkest times,” Roger Regan wrote to us in 2014. “I got her when I was 19. I had some issues; my mum was an alcoholic who was in and out of prison. “I spent most of my young life in care, but I got myself a little studio flat, a job and Mimi and I started to feel content. My mum came over a few times, but th ..read more
