Recently, I stumbled upon the above chart on Twitter revealing a startling increase in deaths attributed to heart and liver diseases, leaving many so-called medical experts bewildered. A number of my friends and relatives, who are in their 40s to early 50s and were previously considered healthy, have suddenly succumbed to these ailments over the last couple of years. As I write this newsletter, I’ve just received heartbreaking news that my younger cousin in Hong Kong collapsed and passed away during a recreational basketball match …..  For those who follow our newsletter, the statistic f ..read more

It has been six years since Master Cheung or any of the Senior Instructors last conducted a Level 1 workshop in continental Europe. Over this period, especially during the pandemic, many individuals have embarked on their qigong journey through self-study. Recognizing the heightened demand for the Level 1 workshop, the Bonn organizer proposed a shift from Level 2 to Level 1. Master Cheung has agreed to this change, seeing it also as a valuable opportunity for current instructors to refresh their skills. Consequently, we are extending the early bird pricing for the Bonn workshop until February ..read more

Examples of Different Versions of Dao De Jing, and its Relationship to Daoist Inner Practices

Reminder: Early bird pricing for the April workshops ends this month. Throughout my teaching career, I’ve noticed that many mistakenly conflate Daoism with the Daoist Religion. I hope the “Untold History of Daoism” video has clarified things for you: https://youtu.be/r3x4nA14k70?si=5Ebpur1TRqzV3vyM. In the Dao De Jing section of that video, I mentioned that different versions of texts can sometimes have vastly different meanings. Furthermore, it is indeed a book on how to perform Daoist practices. In this newsletter, let me provide you with a couple of examples about them. In Chapter 41, it st ..read more

As you may have noticed, the writing style of the last newsletter differs significantly. Throughout high school and university, I excelled in almost all subjects, except for language—both Chinese and English, which are my weaknesses. For the past 20 years, I’ve leaned on the voluntary editing support of a couple of students. I extend my gratitude to Marianne and Michael for their assistance. In the past, the editing process involved lengthy email exchanges, taking months to refine a 30+ page study course. Recently, I experimented with using ChatGPT to edit my 25-page YouTube video script and t ..read more

I know it’s been ages since I dropped a newsletter or video, and I’ve even had some of you hitting me up, genuinely concerned if I’m still in the land of the living! Well, I actually started writing this newsletter right after I finished the Daoist Neigong Workshop back in February. And then shortly after, boom! China waved goodbye to its Covid lockdown policies and flung open its borders. Seemed like the perfect time to catch up with old pals and do a bit of wandering. Next on the agenda? The growing season. Amidst my personal retreat for the past 5 years, I picked up a new hobby – farming ..read more

Convert the Jing energy into Qi to replenish the brain?

Convert the Jing energy (sexual energy) to replenish the brain? Really? True! We have from birth a certain quantity of Jing energy. As with most young men puberty brought an explosion of hormones. My father warned me time after time not to read porn magazines and masturbate. He said they have a negative effect on me both physically and spiritually. It is common knowledge among older Chinese that sex deplete ones energy. The Yellow Emperor’s Inner Classic, the bible of Chinese medicine, explicitly explains how sex affects you. At that time I just laughed it off, because many western medical jo ..read more

This year is the end of the 8th period of San Yuan Jiu Yun, a 180 grand cycle. The 8th period is represented by earth element which is a relatively stable period. Because of its stability, it is also a period of prosperity. Next year, we officially enter the 9th and final period of San Yuan Jiu Yun, which is represented by the fire element, and it is the only period associated with fire among all those 9. So, in the coming 2 decades, there will be a lot more fire energy than we have ever experienced in our lifetime. So, what does this all means?   Enjoy reading our Blog? Sign up to recei ..read more
