Roads across South Australia are set to receive upgrades to improve flood resilience and safety.  Flood recovery works on the Eyre Highway and Stuart Highway will include raising the road level and incorporating new drainage structures.  The recovery works are being undertaken following extreme weather events and widespread flooding on regional roads across the state in January 2022. Sunshine Coast Rail receives additional $1.15B

The Federal Government has announced that it will be investing an additional $1.15 billion into the Direct Sunshine Coast Rail Line, which is set to better connect the community to jobs study, services, and iconic tourist locations.  This investment, which takes the Federal Government’s total investment to $2.75 billion, is to ensure Stage 1 of this major project can be delivered. Daytime testing for Parramatta Light Rail

Parramatta Light Rail is now undergoing daytime testing, which will see the 45m trams travelling in the heart of Parramatta during off-peak times between 10am and 3pm. The first daytime test run will see the tram journey from the stabling facility in Camellia, complete a run up to Carlingford and back, before rolling into the Parramatta CBD. Ports Australia calls for emissions reduction funding

Ports Australia has released a statement following the confirmation of $600,000 in federal funding for the creation of a national action plan to reduce maritime emissions, saying that such a project will require more funding.  Ports Australia CEO, Mike Gallacher, said that he was satisfied with this announcement, stating that the Federal Government’s initial investment in such a plan is a positive development. Deloitte has released the State of Digital Adoption in the Construction Industry 2024 report, which examines the adoption of digital and AI tools by construction companies.  The report reveals insights from 933 construction firms across six markets including Australia, Singapore, Japan, India, Malaysia and Hong Kong. Qld’s Bruce Highway to receive $467M upgrade

The Federal Government has announced that it will invest $467 million into safety and capacity improvements for the Bruce Highway as part of the 2024-25 Budget. This funding includes $154 million for improvements along the Bruce Highway North corridor, and an additional injection of funding to support the delivery of a number of important existing Bruce Highway upgrade projects.  The government is also investing $15 million to plan for the upgrade of the Pine River Bridge.
