Dozens of professionals from across the school bus and commercial bus industries took to social media this week to share their fond memories of Frank DiGiacomo, the publisher of School Bus Fleet for 33 years who died on May 9. He was 84. DiGiacomo worked for Bobit Business Media for 43 years in all, starting in 1991, first on Construction Contracting magazine and then as Eastern sales manager for SBF. He became publisher of both SBF and Metro magazines when Bill Paul left to start School Transportation News in 1991. A group of students and their school bus driver were sent to the hospital in Western Vigo County, Indiana, following a school bus crash on Monday afternoon. The incident occurred when the Vigo County School Corporation school bus ran off the road and crashed into a utility pole, said the Vigo County Sheriff’s Office in a statement. The impact caused the pole to break and live power lines fall on the bus. The students and driver were instructed to remain inside the bus due until the scene was cleared by Duke Energy. A crash involving a school bus in West Greewich, Rode Island, left eight people injured, reported WPRI News. The incident reportedly occurred Monday evning on I-95, when a truck towing a portable arrow board for a Rhode Island Department of Transportation construction detail exited the center median in front of the school bus. A Pinellas County Schools bus driver is on a mission to spread positivity to the students on his route, reported ABC News. A man has been arrested after he allegedly attempted to steal a school bus in northeast New Mexico, reported KOAT News.
