Meet ALL MY MEDS, your medicine cabinet in your pocket. We are thrilled to share that our first app, All My Meds is now live on the Apple App Store and on Google Play. It has been a journey to get to this stage, but we are really excited to see our app live and out there for you all to try. So what is it exactly? The idea behind the app is to create a simple way to keep track of the medications you or your family are taking. Between prescriptions, over the counter medications, and vitamins or supplements, it can be hard to remember every medication you are taking. What about medication you’ve ..read more

Why is it so hard to diagnose endometriosis?
Kensa Health Blog
by Dr Rose Abbott

Written by Dr. Alice McGee Almost everyone who has been diagnosed with endometriosis or is under investigation for endometriosis will tell you what a pain the process has been. Not only due to the physical pain they experience from the condition, but also the pain in uncertainty, waiting and the testing needed to finally get diagnosed and finally get some answers. But why is this? Endometriosis is a very common condition, with estimates of about 10% of women and girls of reproductive age having it! This is roughly 190 million girls and women worldwide. It often goes undetected for many years ..read more

October 9th- 15th is Baby Loss Awareness Week. This is a cause very close to our hearts at Kensa Health as it has impacted our team personally. This year's theme is "Stepping Stones" and we wanted to give a safe and supportive space for women to show how their stories of loss and what happened next. It is important to share these stories to recognise the babies that have been lost and the parents who need to know they are not alone. Hi, my name is Jen. I am a public health professional, wife, and the mother of two daughters–Emma and Hannah. In December 2019 at almost 26 weeks gestation with m ..read more

The long-awaited ,first Women’s Health Strategy for England was published last week (20th July 2022) following the vision for women’s health paper on the 23rd December 2021. And as a women's health startup focused on tackling this gender health gap for women we were very excited to see what they came up with over the past eight months. Here are some of my initial thoughts as a GP on the current strategy including if we at Kensa Health, think it will make a big difference to women's lives. Where did this all start? The vision for women’s health paper set out the problem through the collated vi ..read more

At the moment there’s a positive push in the area of women’s health information and support. There is a growing wave of femtech companies such as Elvie, Clue, Syrona, and Hertility and organisations like Women of Wearables who support startups looking at a range of women's health challenges. We have also seen a rise in powerful campaigns such as #MakeMenopauseMa ..read more

Why the HRT shortage is so critical to women's health
Kensa Health Blog
by Melissa Wilson Craw

It hit the headlines at the beginning of the week: certain hormone replacement therapy (HRT) products were running low, and British women were getting desperate. Some worried that menopausal women would become like “drug mules” scouring the black market because “for a menopausal woman this HRT is as important as insulin is to a diabetic.” But is this really true? What is HRT and its effect on women's health, and is it really so terrible if someone has to stop for a few months? What is HRT? When a woman experiences perimenopause and menopause, her body doesn’t produce as much oestrogen. Hormon ..read more

Women's Health Voices must be heard
Kensa Health Blog

It has been just over a year since the Women’s Health Strategy for England was published. Unfortunately amongst all of the issues facing the government and the NHS, women’s health still seems to be taking a back seat. In fact, with the recent update from the government and their stance on menopause rights, you could even say things are going in the wrong direction. However, at Kensa Health we keep fighting to have women’s voices heard, listened to, and acted on. Which is why we are launching the Women’s Health Voices campaign across our social media. We will be giving a platform to the storie ..read more

Why Women's health matters in the workplace
Kensa Health Blog
by Dr Rose Abbott

When we started Kensa Health we knew we wanted to support and provide important information on women’s health conditions. Too many women are suffering from a lack of knowledge and awareness around uncommon and common health conditions. One of the biggest issues women face is how their health can impact them in the workplace. Critically the main issue seems to be around the inability to talk about their conditions and/or managers and colleagues not understanding how to support them. Some of the key challenges that come up again and again in our conversations with women are around the lack of s ..read more

It has been a year now since we first launched Kensa Health, and wowzers it really has been a roller coaster of a year! We secured our first funding from EPIC in January, and went on to build our Kensa website, health library, blog and women’s health courses.  We secured further funding from Cornwall Aerospace in the summer  to work on a feasibility study and initial click through pre-prototype for our app. We also joined the Innovate Edge program which gave us the support and guidance needed to work on our business plan, build our pitch deck and prepare for a trip to SLUSH (an amaz ..read more
