A new law aimed at protecting first responders by keeping crowds at a distance is set to take effect, with supporters and opponents still at odds about whether it's necessary. Precious metals like gold and silver are not legal tender under Florida law. However, if the state's chief financial officer gets his way, that could change. Florida CFO Jimmy Patronis, who's also running for a vacant seat in Congress, is launching a study by the Florida Department of Financial Services to determine how gold and silver could be used to buy goods and services in the state. Florida could move toward its first sanctioned bear hunt in nearly a decade as the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission directed officials to bring forward proposals for a possible bear hunt.
