On this Earth Day, let's commend the Biden Administration for awarding $20 billion in federal financial support for clean-energy projects to help combat climate change and pollution in disadvantaged communities. The source of money for this important, groundbreaking investment is the Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund established in the Inflation Reduction Act, President Biden's signature climate law. The funds will be invested in clean-energy technologies such as solar panels or charging stations for electric vehicles. The program will make low-interest loans available for clean-energy proje ..read more

The Kecksburg UFO: The Story of the Century

It was in the early evening of Thursday, December 9, 1965 that the night editor of the Greensburg, PA, Tribune-Review sent me to the little rural community of Kecksburg, PA, to cover the reported landing of an unidentified flying object in the woods near a farmer’s field. He said it would be "the story of the century." Little did he know.   The Kecksburg UFO When I arrived at the scene, armed soldiers blocked access to the reported landing site and I was told that if I ventured into that field, I would be arrested. Yet, the soldier in charge told me that “nothing” had happened.   ..read more

In 2020, Republican Rep. Nancy Mace of South Carolina’s First Congressional District, edged out Democratic incumbent Rep. Joe Cunningham…who had been the first Democrat to flip a House seat in South Carolina in 30 years. Mace won by just 5,400 votes, or one percent.   Then, two years ago, following redistricting, Mace won reelection by 14 percent.   Since then, Mace was critical of Trump following the Jan. 6, 2021 MAGA attack on the U.S. Capitol, but she’s endorsed Trump – despite the many criminal charges against him and his conviction for sexually abusing writer E. Jean Carroll ..read more

Since #SleepyDon has had trouble staying awake in his New York Stormy Daniels hush money trial, what will happen during the Georgia election interference trial? Will #SleepyDonald manage to keep his eyes open during that one? With his future and freedom at stake, you'd think Trump could at least stay awake. However, as legal commentator Tristan Snell posted, "Looks like Sleepy Don is too old and low-energy to be president." So, will #SleepyDon stay awake in Georgia? We shall see. As the Georgia election interference case against #SleepyDonald unfolds, the political atmosphere in Fult ..read more

The day Donald Trump has been dreading and deliberately avoiding has finally arrived. As I write this, Dangerous Dishonest Donald sits in a New York City courtroom on trial for allegedly making hush money payments to porn actress Stormy Daniels. Trump’s principal legal strategy has been to avoid facing justice in all four cases brought against him. In most trial situations, delay is caused by one side or the other needing more time to prepare, gather evidence, or strategize their arguments. In this case, however, Trump’s tactics were primarily political and had little t ..read more

Calling Female Candidates

Women are 51 percent of the U.S. population, but only 33 percent of state legislators across the country are women, and the way things are, it could take more than 200 years to reach parity.   That’s where the organization Vote Run Lead comes in. Its goal is to close that gap, and so has launched an initiative called “Charting a Path to Women’s Majority,” to help achieve that. Vote Run Lead offers training and even financial help for female candidates for local and state offices, and even U.S. Congress, who support progressive initiatives like fighting restrictions on abortion and con ..read more

Prejudicial Pre-trial Publicity: Trump & a Death Penalty Case

A few years ago, I wrote an article about the pre-trial publicity in the case of Jussie Smollett, who was eventually convicted of staging a hate crime and lying to the police. The prosecutor had dismissed the charges, and I argued that the defendant was charged, tried, and convicted in the press. Worse, the Bigot in Chief at the time (you know who) tweeted that the FBI and DOJ should review the case because [the dismissal] “is an embarrassment to our nation.” Many applauded the president’s tweet because they had determined that Smollett was guilty. Why? How? At the time of the tweet ..read more

Many of us know Jesus Christ, He is a friend of ours, but those of you who are extremist, power-hungry and believe in violence are not Christians.  Maybe you don’t understand the origin of the word. Briefly, most words are made up of root words, often with prefixes or suffixes added.  In this case, Christ and the suffix, ian designates the belief in the root word. Therefore, Christians are thought to believe in Christ. Christians around the world continue to identify themselves as followers of Jesus Christ, and to seek to live in accordance with his teachings.  Maybe a hom ..read more

America's Biggest Richard (Dick) Head

According to iPhone’s “Siri,” the most trusted name in Internet research, there are at least 232 men named Richard Head living in America. I planned to interview all, but because I‘m a busy retired senior citizen, I decided instead to predict how they might have answered the following question: Who is America's biggest Richard (Dick) Head? The overwhelming response, by unanimous mythical vote, was “Donald J. Trump.” Investigative journalism demanded I follow up. Next, I would have pursued reasons why these Richards might have bestowed this honor on D ..read more
