(WJBF) - Georgia Power announced that Plant Vogtle Unit 4 went into commercial operation Monday. Unit 4 can reportedly produce enough electricity to power an estimated 500,000 homes and businesses. Vogtle Unit 3 entered commercial operation on July 31, 2023. "It's an exciting time to be a Georgian as our state continues to grow and thrive, with new demand for more clean energy each year. Deadly accident on Old Savannah Road claims one life

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WJBF) - One person has died after a fatal accident on Savannah Road in Augusta. Richmond County Coroner Mark Bowen tells us that 26-year-old Deveunte Zavien Calloway was travelling on Old Savannah Road at 13th Avenue on Sunday when he lost control of his vehicle. The vehicle crashed into a fence and guardrail and ended up partially submerged in the canal. Coroner Bowen says that Calloway had to be extricated from the vehicle by EMS. AUGUSTA, Ga (WJBF)- Advance voting for Georgia's General Primary election starts today. Voters will decide who their next leaders will be. And in Richmond County they have an important question to consider. The question is, should the mayor of the Garden City get a vote at commission meetings Richmond County voters now have to decide. AUGUSTA (WJBF) - The Augusta Mall is closed after shots were fired inside. According to Richmond County Dispatch, they received the emergency call on 1:43 Sunday afternoon. AIKEN COUNTY, S.C. (WJBF)- The Aiken County Coroner’s Office is investigating a single-vehicle crash that claimed the life of an Edgefield County man. The accident occurred Saturday, April 27th shortly before 4:00 p.m. on the 1100 block of Chinquapin Church Road in Monetta. AUGUSTA (WJBF) - The Richmond County Coroner’s Office is investigating a traffic fatality that occurred on Peach Orchard Road at Harold Road.
