To the Momma Going Through Trauma
Hope After Betrayal Blog

Do you feel that you can’t be the parent you want to be because you are not the “pre-trauma” momma you used to be? Instead of tending to your kids you are busy dealing with anxiety, fear, anger, depression, and a heart shattered to pieces. I understand. For those who have been through betrayal and are worried about the impact on their kids, I want you to know that you are not alone. It is completely normal to worry about the well-being of your children. Many moms are concerned about what repercussions secondary trauma may have on them. In the book of Genesis, Hagar, an Egyptian slave was taken ..read more

Harvesting Hope and Healing
Hope After Betrayal Blog

What comes to mind when you hear the word harvest? For me it stirs up childhood memories of helping gather the bountiful amounts of produce from my grandparents’ garden. Sometimes, it conjures up sweet memories of my children enjoying our annual harvest celebration. In fact, I can hear the sound of their laughter as they make fun childhood memories of their own. For many Christians, the word harvest sets our gaze on the numerous souls still in need of an encounter with our Savior. While the word harvest can bring many things to mind, at Hope After Betrayal Ministries we are actively experienci ..read more

The Good, The Bad, and the Uninvited
Hope After Betrayal Blog

It’s the beginning of 2023. For many of us, the new year is a time that inspires hope and new beginnings. It’s a time for goal setting, vision casting, and celebrating possibilities. Throughout the month of January we turned to Scriptures such as Isaiah 43:18-19 to remind ourselves and affirm that “God is doing a new thing”. Some “new” things we experience are met with joy and excitement, particularly when they align with our expectations and fulfill something we have long been waiting for. This often brings about a smooth graceful transition and excitement for the future.  But what happe ..read more

We are expanding our ministry and we need your help! Hope After Betrayal Board has been in prayer seeking God’s direction to expand the ministry in order to meet the growing need of sexually betrayed women who need to experience God’s cloak of hope and healing. In this process of praying and waiting, the board was led to one of its own alumni, Kristy Rodriguez. Kristy began her work with Hope After Betrayal at the end of March. As Women’s Care Coordinator, Kristy will focus on expanding HAB’s influence to women. She will provide continued education and resources to the women served, and she wi ..read more

It’s Not the Most Wonderful Time of the Year
Hope After Betrayal Blog

It’s supposed to be the “most wonderful time of the year” but sadly… it’s not. If you are dealing with the pain of betrayal, the holiday season feels anything but merry and bright. It’s normal to feel overwhelmed and unsure of how to navigate this season with grace and hope. You may find it hard to walk in the beauty Christmas should bring when you are busy faking your way through family gatherings and holiday parties. Does anyone really expect you to sing another round of “Joy to the World,” especially when you feel the gaping hole in your heart where joy is supposed to reside? Shame has cast ..read more

Lessons From the Rearview Mirror

In a single moment, life as I had known it came to an unexpected end. Devastation and pain abruptly barged into my life as a result of my husband’s sexual sin and infidelity. Hope that anything good could ever come from the enormity of this mess seemed like just a tease. It was a cruel joke that pulled on what was left of my frail tattered heart strings. I would not have imagined in a million years that this would be my life. Does anyone? Not a single bride stands at the altar looking into the eyes of her beloved anticipating future betrayal. I am sure you didn’t either. However, there I was ..read more

God Is In the Darkness
Hope After Betrayal Blog
by Meg Wilson

I have noticed this tendency to believe God has abandoned me in the seasons of darkness. When I’m sad, depressed or angry, I think God must be absent, or worse He’s upset with me. It is easy to feel God is only present in the victorious times of joy and celebration. He is the author of victory and strength after all. Many women have come to a Healing Hope group convinced their husband’s addiction is a punishment for something they did or failed to do. Our misconceptions must grieve the heart of the Lord so deeply. The Darkness of Pain God created all of our emotions. Each one has a purpose and ..read more

PVC (Personal Vessels for Christ)

PVC Blog Post by Meg Wilson As a visual learner, I love a good picture metaphor. I want to share one I find myself using a lot especially when talking about the blessings, Holy Spirit, and resources of the Lord. Picture white PVC pipe, the type used in buildings and homes for plumbing. Its sole purpose is to allow what the Builder designed to flow through it. I am often reminded how God’s children, in a way, represent this plastic PVC pipe. In the plumbing world PVC stands for Polyvinyl Chloride, but for this metaphor I like to call us the Personal Vessels for Christ (PVC). Just as healthy pi ..read more
