EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) -- A Republican candidate for Congressional District 23 -- Brandon Herrera -- and controversial guest Kyle Rittenhouse visited El Paso on Monday, May 6 to rally support for Herrera's campaign in a runoff race.
Herrera is running against incumbent U.S. Rep. Tony Gonzales, R-Texas, for the Republican nomination in District 23.
Gonzales' far-flung district stretches from San Antonio to East El Paso.
The runoff election is May 28.
Rittenhouse was acquitted of killing two people at a protest in Wisconsin back in 2020.

EL PASO, Texas (Border Report) -- U.S. Rep. Henry Cuellar said he and his wife are innocent following reports that the Justice Department planned to announce his indictment.
In a statement to Border Report, Cuellar, said, "I want to be clear that both my wife and I are innocent of these allegations. Everything I have done in Congress has been to serve the people of South Texas."

HARLINGEN, Texas (ValleyCentral) — The Department of Justice is expected to indict longtime Rep. Henry Cuellar, D-Texas, on Friday, NBC News announced.
In January of 2022, Cuellar's home and office were raided in Laredo as investigators were looking into Azerbaijan and a group of U.S. businessmen who have ties to the country, law enforcement said at the time.
According to NBC, in April, Cuellar's lawyer said he was not the target of the federal investigation.

BROWNSVILLE, Texas (ValleyCentral) — An indictment charging Rep. Henry Cuellar, D-Texas, with accepting bribes from foreign entities was unsealed Friday.
The indictment accuses 68-year-old U.S. Congressman Enrique Roberto "Henry" Cuellar and his wife, 67-year-old Imelda Cuellar, of participating in two schemes involving bribery, unlawful foreign influence and money laundering, the Department of Justice announced.

AUSTIN (Nexstar) -- Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton is leading a coalition of Republican states in suing the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) over a new rule that will require licenses and background checks for private firearms sales.
The ATF is expanding the definition of what is considered a firearm "dealer," subjecting private sellers to the same licensing and safety requirements as commercial stores.

EL PASO, Texas (Border Report) – Activists in at least four Texas cities used the International Workers Day holiday to call for the legalization of some 1.5 million undocumented workers in the state.
The activists from Border Network for Human Rights and several other organizations also called for Texas Gov. AUSTIN (KXAN) — Texas Gov. Greg Abbott and Attorney General Ken Paxton announced separate challenges to federal rule changes extending protections to LGBTQ+ students.

EL PASO, Texas (Border Report) – Juarez industry officials say commercial truck delays at El Paso border crossings are costing them up to $32 million a day.
