Camino are a tribe of London-based ultra-marathon runners and coaches. Camino founders have been running ultramarathons around the globe for over a decade but we also appreciate how important it is to look for local based events that don't have the same impact on the planet we love. Stay up to date o our events, tips from our expert coaches, training advice and more!

Wow! London x
That was a wild 'full week' - NOT just the race.
This Blog is hopefully full of the riches of one of the worlds best 'city marathons'.
We have stories from:
Deo - LM Spirit Award runner - who is currently on his epic South Africa to London journey and hence did his LM as a virtual....what's like running LM in Africa?
Ruden - after his charity fundraising 3 x LM last year - this year he was back taking on a 4 x LM version. Caminos stepped up to support him....did he finish???
Camino Ultra had over a dozen athletes taking part. Most of them in the middle of training blocks fo ..read more

I went into this event with a hyper version of self doubt
PRELUDE:
I went into this event (Tunnel 200 Mile) with a hyper version of self doubt.
I was never not going to finish Spartathlon and Winter Spine because I did everything possible to stack things in my favour.
Whereas in the last few months the world (it felt) was riddled by viruses - constant sickness which translated into my sub standard training.
I did Country to Capital as a prep race. On that morning I felt the same doubt but only had 46 miles to deal with. First half of C2C (which is all muddy trail) I felt like Peter Pan ..read more

The Mudcrew event, the Arc of Attrition https://www.mudcrew.co.uk/events/arc-of-attrition/ is a coach favourite here at Camino Ultra. David was a finisher in 2020, and Daz has unfinished business there after attempts in 2020 and 2022! This year, toeing the starting line were long-time Camino athletes Anna Brown, John Atkins, and Julian Cazorla, who has been a long-time Camino friend.
Not for the fainted-hearted, the Arc of Attrition is a point-to-point extreme coastal race taking in the stunning and dramatic Cornish Coastpath. The unpredictable weather of the coastal region adds another layer ..read more

Camino have just returned back to earth from Planet Longbridge!
There is something other-worldly about the latest running phenomenon - Backyard Ultras.
The concept is straight-forward.
You all start together and run a 4.167 Mile loop.
You have one hour to complete the loop
You must be in the 'start pen' ready to start the next loop 'on the hour'.
Runners drop out when they can go no more or if they do not get back inside the hour.
When there are only two runners left the Backyard goes until one retires.
The Last One Standing must complete 'One More Lap' to be the actual winner.
Our close frie ..read more

It's Thursday afternoon on 18th January and superstar Camino Hannah Rickman is currently in an epic battle for second place with the incredible Lucy Gossage. Country to Capital Ultra was celebrating it's 16th anniversary this weekend.
Simon (it's iconic Race Director) also took the time to honour 'one of it's own' - Ed Catmur (who died in an accident on the Pennines over the New Year) with a beautifully observed minutes silence.
Over 370 runners made it to the start (at the Shoulder of Mutton pub in Wendover) - plenty of nervous energy and hot steamy bodies as we awaited the 08:45AM kick-off.
For Camino we had over a dozen runners (we set up one of our iconic WhatsApp chats the week before and there was some brilliant banter about how this was goin ..read more

This year we have had the mighty pleasure of coaching the amazing Nethilee to several incredible running achievements.
When we were first introduced, there was a sense that Nethilee was a real ultramarathon newbie. Within the initial introductory weeks of working together and following the exploratory phase of training we knew that Nethilee was highly motivated to achieve big running goals.
Nethilee also joined Camino's 'Forest Friday' group - where we met every Friday in the lead up to Epping Forest and shared many Trail Technical skills on the actual race route itself. Again Nethilee was so ..read more

One of the things that is vital to us at Camino is story-telling - the skill of getting out 'what is often left inside'.
As we delve into the mindset of a runner and the strength of their Whys we often find that writing and sharing inner feelings is something way more complex than the running.
So we love it when close members of our community are keen to share their running story.
Ray has been a Camino runner and friend since we began. If not inside our races, he's flying along our London routes - often taking amazing pictures and also consistently volunteering and supporting our community.

A few days after the Camino 25Km & 50KM 2023 we asked the people that make up the event - how it all went.
As always we do this with a lean in towards sharing positive things - to help people who are considering running their first trail event, maybe their first ever 50KM ultramarathon as well as feedback from RD Carole who shares the good and the bad about race-marking.
We were grateful to pioneer a new Gratitude Mile inside the event hosted by Mark and the team at Run Grateful. Mark shares more about this below and how any event can incorporate more gratitude inside of what they do. Also ..read more
