A Week in the Life of a Creation Producer, and many other roles…  My colleagues have often commented on how wildly varied my day to day role can be working for Creation and to highlight this I thought I’d put a particularly varied and mad week into a blog. Over the last 7 days at Creation I have fulfilled the role of Education Workshop Assistant, Marketing Assistant, Film Assistant, Van Driver, Front of House Manager and of course, Producer.  FRIDAY This week I worked as a Workshop Assistant for Creation’s Play in a Week Workshops. I worked with Nemo who was an amazing leader, and a ..read more

This week we’re catching up with Herb Cuanalo, Rep actor extraordinaire, fashion icon and such a bona-fide Oxford local that he once broke his arm at SOAP (our summer venue) as a kid.         What was the first Creation production you were involved with, and what’s your favourite memory of it? Herb in The Signalman The Signalman, well I would have to say getting into Wesley Memorial Church for the first time. It was very exciting seeing how we were going to incorporate such a great space. Drumroll please! This week we’re featuring member of the Rep and star of many a recent Creation show, Anna Tolputt. What was the first Creation production you were involved with, and what’s your favourite memory of it? My first creation production was the online Witch of Edmonton a couple of years ago.  My favourite moment is when one of the actresses accidentally fell backwards through her greenscreen, mid speech.  She was in a beautifully elegant Edwardian drawing room at the time which sort of crumpled to reveal a pot plant and a white wall.  It made my night.  It ..read more

Creation Theatre Blog
by Charlie Morley

This week’s blog is a particularly special appearance from one of the Much Ado team – the Artistic Director of our co-producing partners OVO, Adam Nichols. How did you first come to be involved in making theatre at such an extraordinary site? One of our regular actors has a personal connection to a member of the Grimston family, who have been living in the Gorhambury Estate, within which the Roman Theatre is situated, since the 16th century. There had been the occasional performance there since the 1930s, when the site was excavated, but we are really the first company to have brought the ..read more

We caught up with Helen Tennison, director of this year’s summer Shakespeare extravaganza Much Ado About Nothing, in a break from rehearsals getting the show ready to visit its two stunning venues: When did you first read or see Much Ado About Nothing? I remember watching the Kenneth Branagh film version and loving how feisty, funny and vulnerable Emma Thompson was as Beatrice. What are you most looking forward to about the co-production with OVO at The Roman Theatre and the production at South Oxford Adventure Playground? The Roman Theatre at St Albans is a spectacular venue, it’s a setti ..read more
