Self Care Imagine this…
After patiently waiting for weeks, you receive your professional images from your photographer!
The excitement and nervousness you feel are palpable, and you can’t wait to see the photos you’ve planned and dreamed about for so long!
As you open your gallery, your excitement turns to dread. You scroll through the images and immediately hone in on every imperfection. Your insecurities and negative self-talk take over and all you can see is what is wrong, not with the photos… but with you!
Oof.
I’ve been there before, my friend. That’s wh ..read more

Out of Office I was recently able to get away for a little vacation in Mexico -check out my recap reel!
During my trip, I fully disconnected from work - no email, no social media, and no jumping on the computer for a quick task or check-in. I came home feeling recharged and refreshed.
This definitely hasn’t always been the case for my vacations and, years ago, I never would have thought it could be possible for me as a small business owner.
I’m sharing my top tips so that you too can take time away from your business without stressing out about what’s happenin ..read more

money management When it comes to finances, there are no rules about how, when, or how much to pay yourself. This can be both a blessing and a curse because you get to decide!
I’ve tried a lot of different things over the years, so today I wanted to share what’s worked best for me. Please remember I am NOT a financial planner or tax professional. It is best to talk with your accountant to make sure you are allocating enough money for tax purposes.
First things first, go get yourself a copy of Profit First by Mike Michalowicz (the audio version is great too). I ..read more

social media marketing We all love swiping through reels. Like you, I laugh over funny reels and share relatable ones in my group text threads.
But, since the rise of reels and the Instagram algorithm preference for reels over other types of posts, many business owners I’ve talked with feel overwhelmed by the idea of making them a part of their marketing strategy.
If you follow me on Instagram, you know it’s a trend I’ve embraced fully in 2022. Although I was also intimidated at first, I’ve found reels to be an effective part of my social media outreach. That ..read more

And it’s especially true if you’re used to having a regular, consistent paycheck.
While it’s something many of us experience, I don’t see many people talking about it in the business world, so I wanted to share the actions I’ve put in place in order to thrive in my decade plus of living on a variable income.
The most important thing you can do is to learn how to plan for the future. Some months you may be rolling in extra cash, whil ..read more

what to wear Time and time again, I am asked by my clients: “what should I wear for my brand session?” This is one of the biggest pain points I see women struggling with as they prepare to get in front of the camera.
There are so many variables when it comes to putting together your looks, from body shape to style, season and color, plus making sure that the general vibe fits with your brand.

Self-Care I am the “self proclaimed” Queen of Burnout. I have experienced burnout more times in my career than I can remember (or really than I care to admit).
While I can’t tell you how to prevent burnout completely, I’ve learned a lot from my own experiences and want to share some helpful tips to overcome burnout quickly when it does rear its ugly head.
Burnout shows up when we do too much of one thing… and that one thing is usually work. As a business owner, it’s easy to let our work become our entire life until there’s little room left for anything else. When the feeli ..read more
