Elections Information Town and Parish Council elections will take place in May 2025. Local Councillors are elected in 4-year terms by the local community to represent its views and to contribute to the community. The elections next May will decide the 24 Chippenham Town Councillors who will represent the community of Chippenham for the next 4 years. Chippenham Youth Council held two events on 27th April, as part of the Teen Takeover event organised by the Local Youth Network. The first was a market stall on Chippenham High Street, where the youth councillors engaged with the public, asking them to answer the question of, ‘what do young people want to see in Chippenham?’ Responses were recorded on post-it notes and added to a large board. The councillors did a brilliant job of collecting responses, getting 122 in total. This summer Chippenham Museum is officially opening new gallery spaces for temporary exhibitions.   Re/imagining Maud Heath 24 June – 31 August 2024 The first exhibition in the new galleries celebrates Maud Heath who 550 years ago, on her husband’s death, gifted properties and land in Chippenham into a trust fund so that the income from them could be used to maintain a causeway, and this remains today. On Saturday 15 June, the Town Council will be celebrating Pride month with a flag-raising ceremony outside of the Town Hall. In January 2022, the Amenities, Culture and Leisure Committee approved a project for the Town Council to work with the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) to install a booking system for the tennis courts in John Coles Park. Neighbourhood Plan Referendum Results

The Chippenham Neighbourhood Plan can now be adopted following a successful ‘yes’ vote by residents of the town at the referendum held on 23 May 2024. 86.2% of residents voted ‘yes’ to the question ‘Do you want Wiltshire Council to use the neighbourhood plan for Chippenham to help it decide planning applications in the neighbourhood area?’ 13.5% voted ‘no’. Last night, Wednesday 22 May, Chippenham Town Council celebrated the outgoing Mayor, Councillor Declan Baseley and welcomed the new Mayor of Chippenham, Councillor Conor Melvin with the annual civic event, the Mayor’s Investiture.
