Tell us more about you! I have been married to my husband, Jim, for 20 years in May and we have two children, Joella (15) and Jamison (9). We also have two dogs, Indigo (8) and Chara (4 months). We live in Colorado Springs and have a busy life with kids, activities and church. Professionally, I am a licensed psychologist and I work part-time at the local mental health center and part-time as a consultant. My favorite things in life are my family, sunshine, working out, and coffee. Starting A Mentoring Relationship

By Sarah Brooks and Nancy Lindgren Have you wanted to mentor someone but not sure how to approach them or to get the conversation started?  Here are some helpful action steps to take: PRAY + PURSUE + PARTICIPATE 1. Pray Let God guide your steps, your words, and your ask. He will even guide you to WHO and open doors and opportunities to mentor. He is so good at that! As you pray, be watching for someone you aren’t even thinking about. Maybe it’s a neighbor or a co-worker or a relative or someone at church. When God leads you, it will be a divine and glorious connection. 2. Pursue  Not ..read more

Give Me Vision to See Things Like You Do

By Nancy Lindgren It’s always fun to see what word God gives us for a new year. For 2024 it’s VISION. Proverbs 29:18 says “Without revelation people run wild, but one who follows divine instruction will be happy.” (CSB) We certainly don’t want to be running wild over here at MORE Mentoring, but we are leaning into the new things God is revealing to us and it makes us so happy. We believe God has given us this special word in 2024 because it’s our 10-year anniversary, and we need His divine instructions to stay confident in moving forward as we look ahead to the next 10 years. By Sarah Brooks I grabbed a warm blanket with my cup of tea and settled into the corner of my couch, relieved to finally rest. I opened that fun little app with all the pretty squares and videos. Within seconds, I was flooded by porches and living rooms decked heavily in fall decor. I scrolled past beautiful homes being remodeled in ways that I could only dream. My thumb stopped on women in cute winter fashion with links to purchase, families at pumpkin patches, and I read the caption of a post from a friend telling us all about the built-in playground IN her house.  I shut Instagram do ..read more

Someone in Need of a Someone

By Sarah Brooks I can distinctly remember the first time I took my newborn baby boy to church. I sat in the very back of a middle school gym, behind raised hands and loud voices, praying he would sleep through the whole service.  Every new mother, I am convinced, whether she wants to admit it or not, has prayed and hoped she could make it through an event without her sleeping baby waking. And it’s because the idea of gracefully caring for your crying baby, with watchful eyes, is absolutely intimidating. It was 104 degrees outside on a hot Arizona August day (I remember the green digits ..read more

It's Time to Mobilize The Mentors

By Nancy Lindgren The Lord has been stirring my heart for over a year with these words: It’s time to mobilize the mentors. The time is now. There is an urgency. The need is great. The call on our lives is to invest in people. We are moving into a new era where an army of mentors will rise up and say those powerful words, “Here I am. Send me.” We must say no to our fear, insecurities, and feelings of being unqualified. The enemy wants us staying stuck in those places of not using our influence and the stories God has written over our lives. We feel so strongly about this here at MORE Mentori ..read more

Why We Need A New Generation of Mentors

By Leslie Bennett  The moment Mary learned from the angel Gabriel that she would become pregnant through the Holy Spirit’s power, surely her mind raced around the first-century world and back with a million questions and fears. Her life would never be the same. She worried how Joseph would react. She dreaded when people would realize she was pregnant before marriage. Most perplexing of all, she wondered how the baby inside her womb could be the Son of God who would one day rule over a never-ending kingdom.  As soon as Gabriel delivered this jaw-dropping news, Mary quickly left Nazare ..read more

My Mentoring Journey

By Cindy Davis My interest in mentoring came not from my own experience, but from watching my 10 year old son experience grief. The sudden death of my younger brother had left the family in shock. My son’s fun uncle, whom he played football with and looked up to like a big brother, was gone. This led to a spiral in challenging behavior, mostly at school. When I mentioned my concerns to Gayle, a children's ministry leader I knew, she quickly suggested mentoring for my son. Gayle's church had a successful mentoring ministry for young people. Young adults from local churches were trained and pair ..read more

By Nancy Lindgren I recently had an interesting interaction with a woman I met for the first time. She was an open book from the get-go and poured out her story within minutes of our introduction. I love those personalities! She shared from her heart with passion. She was authentic and didn’t hold back the hard stuff. There were tears in her eyes. I did a lot of listening and very little talking. At the end of our encounter, I said the words, “to be continued.” She emphatically agreed. I was really intrigued by her and truly wanted to get to know her better. The next day I found out that she h ..read more

A Mentor's Wisdom in My Life

by Paige, a mentee  So this is the joy of marriage! I excitedly kept thinking during my honeymoon last summer. I had just married my best friend and was thrilled our days of long-distance dating were over. But soon afterward, once we returned to our new residence and started doing daily life together in the same location, the honeymoon phase gradually faded and I found myself in a fog of confusion, thinking, This is not the marriage I’d expected.  And that was just the issue: My husband and I became one flesh yet with two subconscious sets of expectations we had for one another. I ho ..read more
