Tech Advisor
by

Web pages loading slowly, videos buffering and online games too laggy? It’s time to upgrade your network with one of the best Wi-Fi routers. Many people install the Wi-Fi router supplied by their broadband provider – such as EE or BT here in the UK – and never think any more about it, but it’s possible to upgrade it for a model that will deliver a signal to more rooms in your home and faster Wi-Fi speeds. But before you take a look at the routers we recommend, there are two key things to know: 1. Wi-Fi speed is not the same thing as internet speed. Tech Advisor

It’s surprising how many years iPads have been in active use. And even more surprising: many users are often still completely satisfied with their ancient iPad 5 or iPad Mini! Of course, it is always difficult to part with a familiar Apple tablet, but in my opinion there are several reasons for switching to a new device. But are the recently announced new iPads too expensive for you? That’s a good point, but the launch of a new iPad generation is always an occasion for discount promotions and discontinued models. If you’re not interested in an overpriced iPad Pro, how about an affordable iPad ..read more

How can the tech industry think we’re ok with battery death?
Tech Advisor

We are all quite aware that a smartphone becomes largely unusable after a couple of years. Assuming you haven’t broken it yourself, it’s quite likely that the battery will give up. It may not die completely, but it will have deteriorated to the point where it’s getting annoying to constantly carry a power bank in your bag. Same thing with computers. Although my old MacBook Pro from 2019 is still fast enough for what I do in my daily work, the battery doesn’t last more than 45 minutes. Essentially, it’s complete useless unless you’re near a power source. I had a period two or three years ago w ..read more

Tech Advisor

Of course, you could simply tell them to turn it off, but in my experience that is just about the least effective option. Instead, and to avoid arguments, a better option is to use the controls built into Amazon’s Fire tablets. All Amazon Fire tablets include settings for controlling how much screen time your ..read more
