The Newton 9-11 Memorial Committee is a non-profit 501(c)(3) public charity that designed, raised funds for, and installed a memorial to the victims and heroes of 9/11/2001, especially the eight Newton residents who lost their lives that day. Thanks to its generous contributors, the Committee offers annual scholarships to Newton high school students, with the aim to preserve the lessons of that fateful September day. Newton will send three delegates – Newton Democratic City Chair Sharon Stout, former City Councilor Holly Ryan, and high-school senior Alan Cai – to the National Democratic Convention in Chicago, August 19-24. They were elected on Saturday, April 27, at the Massachusetts Fourth Congressional District Caucus, chaired by Rep. Jake Auchincloss, at Newton South High School.
