For me and others I know, energies of 2024 so far are feeling intense, life moving at an accelerated pace. At times it can feel difficult to catch your breath. With harsh and painful events continuing around the globe, it is more than challenging to stay informed whilst focusing on centering and grounding yourself, not allowing your energy to be depleted to a point where you have nothing to give to anyone, including yourself. In these times it is essential to look after our needs, maybe more than we ever did before, which will support us to keep shining our light for others to see in the dark ..read more

2024 - The Year of Authenticity

What better photo to choose for my end of year blog, me after drumming in a torrential thunderstorm in my friends' garden back in the summer, after a profound moment involving an oil drum - more on that later! In this moment, my body felt alive, unburdened and full of joy. New Year is a time of reflection. I reflect all year round and journalling continues to be a great practice, for insights, processing and often change of direction, rather than a rigid mindset of 'must do' or making things fit. 2023 has been a year focusing on my health once more, with space and energy to bring more focus t ..read more

What does hair mean to you?

In 2019 I decided to stop highlighting my hair after decades, dreading seeing myself possibly turn grey. Then I came across a whole community across the globe of women of all ages, feeling so empowered being in their natural self. It inspired me to take the plunge! At this time I had been revisiting the longer length of my hair from childhood years, quite the opposite from even just a few years ago, wearing a short heavily highlighted precision cut bob. Despite my hair thinning at the age of 58 years, I love the 'feel', energy and look of my hair now. I feel so much more content, more alive ..read more

Reflecting back on this time last year - the weather, my return to the sea after 15 years, breakthroughs and progress in my own trauma healing journey, my dental story and health challenges continuing. 2023 is quite a year so far! This year has felt like a year to bring even more focus to my health, looking more at boundaries, learning to say 'No' more often (which is very hard as a people pleaser and empath), but knowing this is necessary if I am to be stronger. I am learning to flow in life, facing the challenges of shadow work, surrendering and trusting in the process, embracing and valuin ..read more

Sugar and Cancer

Sugar and Cancer. Reading a conversation on social media this week got me thinking. I did not want my first blog to be a controversial one, but this is far too important to ignore. I am no nutrition expert, and I certainly do not eat healthy myself. Sugar has and is an unwelcome visitor in my life, yet it is one I find struggle to say goodbye to. Growing up, I always thought sugar to be something that could rot your teeth and make you fat. Now at the age of 52, I realise it does much more that that, yet I still find it hard to wean myself off it. I think the word 'wean' is a significant choice ..read more

Reflections on 2022 and What Next

Time has flown by since my last blog. So here I am to share my reflections on the year as it draws to a close. Like many others, I have found it an emotional rollercoaster. 2022 continued to be focused on my health, which brought personal challenges and an unexpected gentle and paced return to my healing 'work' that I have missed so much. The first 3 months of 2022 were intense, revisiting a 2 year journey with my counsellor, this time for trauma focused sessions. I continued seeing my acupuncturist for a hands on/somatic approach to support my talking therapy. My decision to journal these 3 ..read more

How many times have you shook your head and vowed to leave social media platforms, but stay there still shaking your head every day? I have left some platforms several times over the last few years, and miserably failed, returning with a sigh of relief to be reconnected again, finding myself sucked straight back into the cycle of scrolling, likes, hearts, shares, laughing emojis and the 'active now' green dots in my messenger feed. Today feels different. Since January 2022 I have been focused on my journey around health and it has been pretty intense, diving deep into my very soul. So many in ..read more

Find Time To Care

In the UK over recent days we were hit with severe weather. Areas of the UK were cut off by heavy snow, with many people's lives being severely disrupted. We witnessed people isolated in their homes, people trying to travel home from work, but having to abandon their cars and walk home. We heard of boilers breaking down, leaving people with no heating or hot water in their homes. I have read about families running out of food, people needing prescriptions from pharmacies, a young single Mother who could not breastfeed running out of formula milk for her newborn. Then we have the ongoing plight ..read more
