The Art Of Saying No
The Yoga Revolution Blog

Dear fellow overachievers and people-pleasers. Ever noticed yourself saying ‘yes’ to everything? Drinks with your neighbour, dinner with family, jumping on a work project, circling back to the supermarket for the second time today, helping with someone’s new business idea… everything and anything to be there, be kind, and support. If you’re anything like me, this is familiar territory. But I want to remind you, first of all, that you’re not alone. Millions of us people-pleasers are out there, saying yes to absolutely everything and feeling burnt-out because of it. And secondly, it’s really not ..read more

I touch on how much I hate social media, why you should rest more, and a wonderful paper jellyfish. The yoga nidra I mention in this episode lives on YouTube here. Get my Joy Journal to support your morning and evening mindfulness habits. And read this article I mentioned about your ‘perfect’ meditation practice. Learn more about the podcast here Episode Transcript Hey friend, how are ..read more

The Myth Of Perfect Meditation (Or Anything Else)
The Yoga Revolution Blog

“This is why I don’t meditate”. It was a gif a friend sent me on Instagram a while back. I think it was a daft video of a raccoon sitting to meditate with every conceivable problem spinning in his head. So much so, the racoon exploded or something. I don’t know. It was pretty funny, but also, as a mindfulness guide, a bit frustrating. So maybe this one’s a rant, friend, but one you probably need more than you think. Like that daft racoon, you probably sit to meditate, or try to do a slow yoga class, and your mind runs a million miles faster than it did ten minutes ago and you can’t sit still ..read more

What Is Radical Acceptance?
The Yoga Revolution Blog

What’s your view on radical acceptance? It’s our theme for March inside the membership. And with this theme in mind, there’s an incredible quote from ancient stoic philosopher Epictetus that can help us understand the concept a little deeper: “There are two rules to keep at the ready: that there is nothing good or bad outside of my own reasoned choice, and that we shouldn’t try to lead events but to follow them”. —Epictetus, Discourses I suppose what we can take from this ancient philosopher’s insight—the same insight, in fact, that every civilisation since time began has ended up realisi ..read more

A Lesson In Perseverance & Trust

I went for a walk the other day and got really-and-truly lost. First of all, incase you need the reminder, getting out for a walk is probably one of the simplest and most-effective ways to improve your situation. By ‘situation’ I really mean your mental health, your creativity, your ability to solve problems, the way you react, and, obviously, your physical health, too. Go for a walk, preferably in nature, and see your day turn around for the better. Can someone say “win-flipping-win”!? So this is something I try to do as often as I can (although I absolutely know what it’s like to opt for ano ..read more

How Stoicism Can Impact Our Happiness
The Yoga Revolution Blog

What’s life about? Why are you here? What’s the purpose of it all? I don’t know how often you think about these sorts of questions, but I’ve been down this rabbit hole a lot in the past 30-odd years. And I’ve come to one simple conclusion: who cares, let’s be happy. Okay, it might sound a bit simplistic and maybe it is. But my point is this: you’re alive right now, you won’t be some day, and all we really have is this moment. If that’s the basis of reality, then why are we so worried about cellulite, what size jeans we wear, the zeroes in our bank account, or wearing that ridiculous hat you lo ..read more

What Is Wellbeing?

I feel like I need to confess, and you seem like you might go easy on me: My boyfriend and I ended up in York city centre at the weekend. It was anxiety-level busy, we had a pooch with us, and we were starving. We ended up getting a pizza and sitting on a park bench. All well and good. Nothing amiss here… Except as we ate, we watched two youths with an angle grinder nick a bike. Broad daylight, plenty of people staring, no one said anything. Including us. I should’ve stood up and waved my fist, right? Or shouted something? Shouldn’t someone have done something? And this, my friend, is the city ..read more

In the chaos of daily life—especially for busy women juggling careers, family, and personal goals—self-care so often and too often takes a backseat. But if we learn to embrace more moments of mindfulness through our day, it can change absolutely everything; it can change your relationships, your work, your energy levels. By changing the way you relate to yourself and, as a consequence, the world around you, your life can dramatically improve (take my word for it). And, even better, this doesn’t have to be a grand gesture. Today, I want you to focus on one small thing you can do to show yoursel ..read more

A 10-Minute Gentle Morning Yoga Practice
The Yoga Revolution Blog
by Chloe Markham
3M ago
In the midst of hectic mornings and crazy schedules, finding a moment of calm and focus can be a game-changer for your wellbeing, mental state, mood, and general wellness. That’s why I always recommend starting your day on purpose with a morning routine. It might come as no surprise to you that I always recommend this one thing to add into your routine: a yoga class. It doesn’t have to be a sweaty, hour-long practice (unless you’re feeling that way inclined), but a short, gentle practice can give you all the benefits you need for a good day. This class in particular is just that: a positive, g ..read more
