Academy Sports and Outdoors has made a big push into the bass fishing world the last decade or so. From being the title sponsor of the Bassmaster Classic multiple times to having one of the most extensive fishing sections of any big store shy of Bass Pro Shops itself, Academy has pushed their chips into the bass fishing space. Most of us grew up fishing with lead acid batteries in our boats as our fathers before us did. The new generation of anglers, however, are coming up in the age of lithium marine batteries. Yet it’s somewhat telling how little most anglers know about lithium power. They have seen the literally “inflammatory” stories of the early days of lithium power in boats and have shied away from lithium power. Or they got lithium powered batteries but don’t understand the technology so they are not using it correctly or optimizing its longevity. The lack of people that know about lithium marine batteries a ..read more

Over the last several years there has been tons of advancements in the fishing industry, this is true for rods, boats, baits and electronics. However, one thing that hasn’t progressed is our livewells. We’ve been using the same technology to keep fish alive since the dawn of our sport, with little to no advancements. Its no secret that a healthy fish population is key to the sustainability and growth of bass fishing. Keeping fish alive should be our main concern as anglers, and I’ve been extremely excited to test out the Fish Lung Livewell Solution that does just that.

Team Toyota’s Terry “Big Show” Scroggins and his longtime roommate Britt Myers have 38-years of combined pro angling experience, but neither of them recall a weekend on the road full of life-threatening weather like they faced this past weekend during practice for Major League Fishing’s Millertech Stage Four of the Bass Pro Tour event at Lake Eufaula, OK.
“Neither of us had ever been to Eufaula, Oklahoma in our lives, and the first day of practice on this 108,000-acre lake was full of 20-mph winds, waves that were 3-feet tall, and a trip to the tornado shelter that night,” says Scroggins.
