British Wrestling is supporting the Windsor Wrestling Academy through our legacy project. The legacy project seeks to increase female participation in wrestling and promote its benefits, such as improving strength, focus, speed, endurance, confidence, and discipline. The Windsor Wrestling Academy partnered with British Wrestling to host a female-only introduction to wrestling event in early April as well as a weekly female-only session. British Wrestling hosted a free CPD course for our current referee’s who were interested in becoming Beach Wrestling Referees. Beach Wrestling is the newest form of wrestling to be recognised by the UWW with opportunities to compete and officiate in sunny locations internationally. It’s based on simpler format of rules that makes it extremely dynamic for spectators and athletes alike. British Wrestling Education Team hosted two courses this weekend. We had the Level 1 Coaching Wrestling Course in London and the Level 1 Refereeing Wrestling in Glasgow. On the 29th April, we had the Level 1 in Coaching Wrestling hosted at Dedworth Middle School in London. The BWA Tutors who delivered this course were Trevor and Jit. Both our Tutors are well established and experienced coaches. They passed on their experience and expertise over the weekend to to 8 new Assistant Coaches. British Wrestling hosted the 2nd Annual Referees and Technical Officials Conference this past weekend on the 23rd April at the British Judo Olympic and Paralympic Centre in Walsall. This years conference had a great turnout of referee’s and TOs. The conference aims of teamwork, mastering the basics and how to use the BWA C-Mats Competition System were met with alot of group discussion throughout the day. British Wrestling are delighted to announce a new wrestling event to our schedule, Home Nations Showdown. This event will pit senior wrestlers from England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland against each other in a team competition. It will take place on June 24th at The Academy in Manchester.
