Gidan Waya, a large rural K-12 school in Kafanchan, boasts a population of over 700 students. The facility also has dormitories for both girls and boys, complete with toilets and showers. Built on the other side of the campus, the dormitories contain the only toilets for staff and students. This April, funding was sent to Graceland International School in Gusau for study carrels for student use in the library. This was a priority request from our partners as the number of students who access the library to work has increased. The carrels will increase the functionality of the space. Thanks to our donors, AEP was able to fund the repainting of the entire Graceland International School campus in Gusau, Zamfara, Nigeria. In addition, the funding included the repairs to doors and windows. The school, built from 2011-2017, was long overdue for a facelift. The new colors gave the school a fresh, clean look. As we begin a new year and on this International Day of Education, we pause to thank all of our supporters who have made our work possible. Since 2009, Africa Education Partnership (AEP) has worked in Nigeria with dedicated partners to build and renovate schools, provide clean water and toilets, safety walls, desks, playground equipment, and educational supplies.

Finally, this massive project is coming to an end. Thanks to our generous donors, we were able to send the final installment of $6000 in mid-October to complete the interior finish work, painting, and wall construction. The toilet building has been completed with the interior tiling in the final stages. Painting is underway on the exterior of the buildings. The last major portion of the project is the security wall.
