There were many important and historic moments in Jesus Christ's life. This particular week in history marks the events of his crucifixion, death and burial (on Wednesday), and resurrection on Saturday. "Then he took unto him the twelve, and said unto them, Behold, we go up to Jerusalem, and all things that are written by the prophets concerning the Son of man shall be accomplished. For he shall be delivered unto the Gentiles, and shall be mocked, and spitefully entreated, and spitted on: And they shall scourge him, and put him to death: and the third day he shall rise again." Keep GOD First

*Read in Spanish - Leer en Español | Shop Stickers It is difficult to determine and manage priorities as our lives change. What is important to us at one stage will change. With so many commitments and responsibilities it can be hard to know what to put FIRST - and that leaves our lives feeling very unstable. Culture has plenty of ideas as to what ought to be first - and none of them are about GOD... "put yourself first" "put others first" "put family first" "put your career ambitions first" Many of us may have made these choices at one time or another and found that none of these wor ..read more

How Scripture Nurtures Our Lives

"He will be like a tree firmly planted by streams of water, which produces its fruit in its proper season and its leaf does not wither; and in whatever he does, he prospers." {Psalm 1:3} Scripture was designed to nurture our lives by showing us which influences are beneficial and which are harmful. It also gives us clear standards, examples and instructions to identify and leverage good influences and avoid and correct bad ones. Psalm 1:3 summarizes what life is like for someone who uses their knowledge of Scripture to choose good influences over wrong ones… (See Psalm 1 ..read more

Life DOES come with Instructions!

Maybe you have heard that “life comes with no instructions”…  It sounds like a FACT… But, in reality statements like this have a subtle way of ignoring and shading some VERY obvious TRUTHS… THE POINT: “Life coming with no instructions” might be a POPULAR opinion, but it is NOT a BIBLICAL truth. Here are some scriptures about this topic: 2 Peter 1:3 - God's divine power has given us everything we need for life (in all of its manifestations) and for godliness (godly character developed only via intimate relationship with God). This power was given to us through knowledge of the one who call ..read more

Fire and New Life

*Read in Spanish - Leer en Español   Fire has great significance in nature and great spiritual significance in Scripture. God used fire to represent His presence, acceptance, forgiveness and purification. All four of these meanings are aspects of our spiritual new birth. “...I baptize you with water, but he who is mightier than I is coming, the strap of whose sandals I am not worthy to untie. He will baptize you with the holy spirit and with fire.” [Lk. 3:16] “Then they saw what looked like fiery tongues moving in all directions, which separated and hovered on each person as they receive ..read more

OLD LIFESTYLES

*Read in Spanish - Leer en Español Much like picking the perfect wardrobe to look our best, Scripture tells us the exact qualities and realities that cause our lives to be their best. It uses clothing to illustrate the importance of accepting or ‘putting on’ new things God offers to us… and rejecting or ‘taking off’ old things that dictated our lifestyles. Two favorite passages are from the gospel of Luke and the book of Colossians: In the gospel of Luke Jesus Christ says: “Then Jesus gave them this illustration: “No one tears a piece of cloth from a new garment and uses it to patch an old gar ..read more

'Writing... a way to pour out our hearts...'

When times are difficult, when we are under pressure from burdens or simply experiencing sadness… Instead of letting concerns build in our minds, Scripture says to pour them out: “Rise during the night and cry out. Pour out your hearts like water to the Lord…” [Lamentations 2:19] ‘Venting’ them to other people is NOT the same as ‘pouring them out’ to God. If we could imagine our concerns collecting like drops of water… then praying is pouring out our concerns to God. Worrying holds onto them and watches to see if they flood into more areas of our lives… Said another way… Prayer abates our ..read more

Writing is a great means of expression and a valuable tool. For much of history many people did not know how to read or write so they had to find other ways to express themselves. But, being able to write helps us do something as simple as note our observations or something as complex as explore the meaning and significance of what we observe.  The statement made by Dawson Trotman is a favorite of ours - he said: “Thoughts disentangle themselves when they pass through the lips and fingertips…” Communicating the thoughts that tend to whirl around in our minds into spoken or written wo ..read more

God's GRACE is The Origin of True PEACE

God’s Grace & Peace share an important relationship.  God’s grace is defined as ‘unmerited favor’. God’s peace is the establishment of harmony, the tranquil state of a soul assured of its salvation through Christ - the simplest definition… ‘God’s forgiveness enjoyed!!!’ Christ said that he came to offer people God's peace which differs from the unattainable peace the world desires: “Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” [Jhn 14:27] A ..read more

The Right Perspective Builds Spiritual Endurance

Daily we face lots of ‘small things’… micro-aggressions, micro-pressures and subtle temptations. Emotions can inflate them to seem larger or more difficult than they really are. Scripture reminds us to have PERSPECTIVE: “If racing against mere men makes you tired, how will you race against horses? If you stumble and fall on open ground, what will you do in the thickets near the Jordan?” [Jer. 12:4] Nothing will arise today for which GOD cannot / has not provided guidance: “The temptations in your life are no different from what others experience. And God is faithful. He will not allow the ..read more
