Nike Phantom GX 2 Elite AG Review – A Step Forward for the GX

The original Phantom GX boots were one of the most popular boots for Nike (aside from the Mercurial) over the past several years. They sold out constantly and seemingly almost everyone in the boot space has tried them. So, when the Nike Phantom GX 2 Elite was announced, people were quite negative. After all, Nike seemed to have messed with the formula too much and changed what made the Phantom GX great. However, Nike have managed to improve the GX, for the most part. Positive changes for the Nike Phantom GX 2 Elite AG One of the main changes is the upper itself. Gone is the dual-layered foref ..read more

Adidas Predator Elite FT Review

Worth of the name and hype Adidas pulled off maybe the best launch of the past ten years when they put the upcoming Predator on the feet of Trent Alexander-Arnold and Jude Bellingham. Both players were in excellent form during the initial teaser campaign which was successful in building up absurd amounts of hype for the release. Then, the actual launch campaign and videos introducing the boots led to the Predator being one of the most successful launches for a long time. Of course, all of this work by adidas would have been meaningless if the adidas Predator Elite was not up to scratch, but th ..read more

Skechers SKX 01 Review

A Surprising Boot Skechers have decided to throw their weight around in the football market and signing Harry Kane is a massive statement of intent. Following from that, creating a headline boot for the man could be seen as a monumental task but Skechers have seem to have done their homework when it comes to boot design, as well as the designers needed to create such boots, to bring out maybe one of the more interesting boots on the market. The Skechers SKX 01 does follow other, slightly older boot models but there are some things that separate the boot from others and like the Skechers Razor ..read more

A great foundation Skechers are fairly known everywhere for their general footwear and have in the past even made football boots, but they could never be seen as high performance products. With last year’s launch of their newest football line, things have changed. Skechers is now pushing the envelope and while they do have a challenge when it comes to changing the image of their brand, the talent of designers they now have that their disposal plus their massive financial muscle means they could very well shake up the market. And what better place to start than in some of the most competitive m ..read more

Adidas Copa Pure 2+ Review

Close, but not quite it Adidas’ Copa series has recently started being a weird spot. Sure, for a long time it was competing with the Nike Tiempo Legend or the Puma King but now that both of those boots are no longer leather, in a way it feels that it is less competing with those lines but rather smaller brand’s efforts like the ASICS DS Light X Fly or the Mizuno Morelia Neo. Before, it was easy to say whether or not adidas’ leather competed with the Nike and Puma, but now in this new space it is coming up against brands who pride themselves in their leather offerings. It is because of this tha ..read more

It has been another wild year for football boots. The absolute deluge of releases is hard to keep up with at times but at least it gives us all something to talk about. Once again, we had massive amounts of remakes, lots of supposedly new tech and the marketplace continuing to expand out of control. Who knows if it can continue to sustain releases at this rate. On a personal note, this year has easily been the most successful year for the blog ever, with views more than doubling than the previous year. There is still much work to be done and a lot of reviews to come but for now let’s get down ..read more

ASICS DS Light X Fly Pro 2 Review

Better Leather ASICS has been seemingly going from strength to strength over the past few years. The regular X Fly line has been trading blows with other boots of a similar style and the X Fly Pro has presented itself as a great leather speed boot option. The one drawback of the boot has always been that the leather was stiffer than most other boots at its price point and while they were pretty good after breaking in, it has always been somewhat of a weak spot on the Pro series. With the release of the X Fly Pro 2, ASICS have updated the leather to be much more premium and it is definitely to ..read more

More than meets the eye Athleta as brand are more well known and more popular for their apparel and their futsal shoes rather than their boots in Japan. Having used and enjoyed a lot of their apparel for some time now, I was always interested in trying their boots but had never gotten around to trying them. With their newest release of the O Rei T6, I finally got around to giving them a try. I am very glad I have done so now, because there is a lot to like about the boots. Fit and Feel As is normal for this blog, the first thing that is noticeable on the Athleta O-Rei T6 is the kangaroo leath ..read more

Boots were supplied by Tokyo Football SG, socks worn are also available at Tokyo Football SG Simplicity goes a long way Back in 2018 Mizuno released the Mizuno Wave Cup remake. With much hype, the boot quickly sold out and is among the best boots Mizuno has ever produced. Lesser known however, is that Mizuno also made a turf version that was exclusively released in South East Asia. It has been a turf model I have wanted to get a hold of for the longest time and was able to grab a pair thanks to the people over at Tokyo Football SG. While the turf model is not made in Japan like the firm ground ..read more

Mizuno Morelia Neo IV Beta Japan Review

It is a bit Beta When Mizuno first introduced the Beta series with the launch of the original Neo II Beta, it was met positively enough that Mizuno decided to make the Beta series part of the mainline Neo series. The introduction of knit on the Neo III Beta gave Mizuno a killer knit boot to compete against the bigger brands in the boot market. With the newest Mizuno Morelia Neo IV Beta Japan, Mizuno have addressed some of the issues with the previous model, with the newest one getting a stiffer soleplate, more premium (and Japan-made) knit as well as redesigned heel counter. While the changes ..read more
