Just under two months since Hurricane Idalia affected Sunset Beach, a rapid restoration effort has revived the coastline. This local favorite is back open! Workers brought in around 200 truckloads of sand daily. This restoration, part of a bigger plan to stabilize the shoreline, included planting different vegetation types, mainly sea oats, to reinforce the newly formed dunes. The new plantings are much smaller than what was there before the hurricane.
