Therapist analyzes "Before I Forget" by Slipknot. It's a reminder that before the world told us otherwise, we actually believed in ourselves. This song calls you back to a time when you thought you could do anything, when you dared to dream because you knew you could achieve it. It's a reminder not to forget how powerful you actually are. #slipknot —— ❤️ Volunteer and offer support to other music fans: https://www.heartsupport.com/volunteer ? Bring Me The Horizon has touched countless lives with their music, and introducing a therapist to analyze and hear them for the first time is always an eye-opening experience. We invited Rosaline to offer up a powerful perspective on this, especially with Can You Feel My Heart and its connection to the emotions people face when they're on the brink of ending their lives. Snuff from Slipknot describes when you're in a relationship and feel inferior to your partner. It's dangerous when we idealize them and diminish ourselves because we feel so unworthy. And when the relationship dies, so does our self-worth. If our relationship is the only thing holding up our self-worth, then when we lose that person, we lose the only thing that made us worthy of love. #slipknot —— ❤️ Volunteer and offer support to other music fans: https://www.heartsupport.com/volunteer ? So many people can relate to that feeling of aloneness, I'm just waiting to bleed out in my pain. But this song is a call to see the ways in which we are complicit in our own aloneness. Are we waiting to be saved? Because if we are saved, it makes us feel more worthy? Or are we in a victim position where it relieves us from the responsibility of having to do anything to deal with our pain? If we can relate to the wandering of this song, it's a call to come closer, to be the one to do the reaching, instead of waiting to be rescued or bleed out. #slipknot —— ❤️ Volunteer and offer support to oth ..read more

Therapist reacts to "Wait and Bleed" by Slipknot. So often when we're suffering, we feel like we're alone, and that loneliness compounds all of the pain. We feel like no one cares, and that there's no way out. But Slipknot shows us that while we feel a victim to that loneliness, it's more often the case that we are the ones who wandered away. Owning that choice can be the map back to connection. #slipknot —— ❤️ Volunteer and offer support to other music fans: https://www.heartsupport.com/volunteer ? Therapist reacts to "The Devil in I" by Slipknot. Most people think that when we control the devil inside of us by keeping it under wraps, it actually controls us. But when we bring it to the light, it loses its power. This song is a gifted reminder that we can face the devil within us and become stronger, not weaker. #slipknot —— ❤️ Volunteer and offer support to other music fans: https://www.heartsupport.com/volunteer ? After listening to Slipknot for the very first time, therapist hones in on the lyrics "I push my fingers into my eyes. It's the only thing that slowly stops the ache." She related this to self-harm - "Me hurting myself, it's the only thing that stops the ache." When our internal pain is so large, we sometimes want a representation or validation of that experience. We sometimes need a pain we can control, versus the one that is happening to us. This song can be a healthy way that we express that internal pain. #slipknot —— ❤️ Volunteer and offer support to other music fans: https://www.heartsup ..read more
