Atheists come together partly because of our values like freethought and secular government, and partly because — as a social/political minority group — we're shaped by common experiences. We want to be around people who get it! We need spaces to take our families where we know people share our values. Places where we can build the social connections that make up the fabric of our lives. We’ve been creating those spaces, and people have been showing up fo ..read more

Studies show that group singing reduces stress as measured by levels of adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH). If you need further evidence, take a look at the low ACTH on the participants below at our first-ever open karaoke party! About 25 people showed up to the event at Heretic House earlier this month., making it our second biggest singing event so far! Saving AU’s food program
Atheists United

For the first time, a new survey revealed that Americans are rapidly losing trust in religious charities—especially young people. We think it’s no coincidence that young people made our charitable food distribution Atheists United’s most popular program in 2023. In fact, our food distribution recruited more new volunteers and members than any other program this year! This is the big takeaway from our last few years building atheist communities: young atheists find us because they’re looking for ways to be of service. Then, they stick around to build the community.  Sadly, this program is ..read more

Atheists United just made a splash with a huge article about us in yesterday’s LA Times. A reporter joined us on our Atheist Adventure in Zion Park to scoop our quest for existential wonder. Here’s some of what atheists got to say to 1.4 million people who read the nation’s largest daily metropolitan newspaper: “These are the people who I can openly talk to about who I am and what I believe in. I don’t feel like I’m an outsider.”  -Frances Aragon “These kinds of events are important to me because they shape how I talk to [my son] and help him understand how to be a good human.”-Dan ..read more

For Atheists United’s third-annual Atheist Adventure members traveled to Zion National Park, one of the most iconic International Dark Sky Parks on Earth. Together we hiked the Riverside Walk trail to the mouth of the Narrows, explored the lower, middle, and upper Emerald Pools, touched the water seeping from Weeping Rock, and experienced sunset at the top of Watchman trail. The highlight of the weekend was undoubtedly our star talk on a moonless night gathered around the campfire. David Hasenauer, a docent from the Mount Wilson Observatory, joined us with his 17-inch telescope and gave an unf ..read more
