Here is Part 3 of my 2 Timothy 2 :3-7 Bible study, which focuses on a inspiring view of persevering as Jesus’ disciples, using the example of Soldier, Athlete, and Farmer. Today’s study focuses on the Farmer:
You therefore must endure hardship as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. No one engaged in warfare entangles himself with the affairs of this life, that he may please him who enlisted him as a soldier. And also if anyone competes in athletics, he is not crowned unless he competes according to the rules. The hardworking farmer must be first to partake of the crops. Consider wh ..read more

I was studying 2 Timothy 2 :3-7 recently in which the apostle Paul counseled his Spiritual son Timothy on how to persevere as Jesus’ disciple:
You therefore must endure hardship as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. No one engaged in warfare entangles himself with the affairs of this life, that he may please him who enlisted him as a soldier. And also if anyone competes in athletics, he is not crowned unless he competes according to the rules. The hardworking farmer must be first to partake of the crops. Consider what I say, and may the Lord give you understanding in all things ..read more

A while back, I was helping my elderly mother clean her garbage can (glamorous, I know!). As I scrubbed away, a powerful phrase popped into my head: “Temple Guardian.”
A Temple Guardian is one who defends, protects, and keeps a temple. According to 1 Corinthians 6:19-20, our bodies are God’s temple so it is wise that we Christians guard our health as:
Spiritually Strong: Nurturing our relationship with God through prayer, praise, scripture, and fellowship.
Mentally Sound: Cultivating a faith-filled mindset and managing our emotions in Godly ways.
Physically Fit: Nour ..read more

Matthew 5:16 inspires us to good works for God’s glory:
Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.”
As believers in Jesus, we can direct glory to our Heavenly Father in the smallest ways. Let me explain.
I was visiting my mother this morning. She is in her 80s, and when I see her each week, I usually run errands for her or clean up as needed.
One of my motivators for taking care of my health is this:
“I use my energy to make her life easier.”
Mom wanted the outside garbage container and a couple of bin ..read more

Boy, did I learn a lesson recently about why it is important to pray without ceasing! Picture this: Lost in the sprawling Miami airport, frantically searching for my rental car in a maze-like parking garage. Fear and frustration tried to consume me.
But then I remembered a simple yet profound truth: I wasn’t alone in my distress. God was with me.
My journey began with a missed turn and a kind stranger in a yellow shirt who was an answer to prayer. He guided me back on track, but the challenges didn’t stop there.
As I navigated through the terminal, I encountered further delays and detours. Ye ..read more

Imagine a recent anxiety-producing situation and the Lord saying in response, “I’ve got it in the bag…”!
Take Back Your Temple Member Leilani Lykins RN posted a powerful story in our Community about how she heard those very words when she was anxious about a particular situation.
I’m sharing the story with her permission. I believe it will “Wow” you as it did me!
This past July, my beautiful daughter Leah and I had the honor and privilege of going to a wonderful area of Chicago called Saint Charles for a family reunion.
On the flight, I wore some cool jeans and a beautiful white long-sleeve b ..read more

When people want to change, one question often haunts them: “What if I fail?” While failure is a common fear, you can take steps to overcome it.
I had to confront the fear of failure when I decided to write my first book:
What if no one liked it?
What if nobody wanted it?
However, I decided to start confronting that fear with an empowering question:
“What if I succeed?”
It was inspiring to imagine the potential impact on my life, my loved ones, and those the Lord may bless me to influence for His kingdom!
Plus, I would have peace in doing what the Lord was leading me to do; I would do my pa ..read more

A few years ago, I used a potent key to escape the enemy’s food temptation snare.
A famous food truck came to our town to appear at a local festival. The food truck had a reputation for giant hamburgers, which people said were among the best.
When I first heard about the food truck visit, I got excited. I imagined how delicious the burger would be, satisfying my curiosity.
However, on food truck visit day, a funny thing happened.
When I imagined going to the food truck and eating one of those burgers:
My stomach felt queasy
I saw the burger grease making me feel sluggish, tired, and mentally ..read more
