The Olympics are the biggest stage for many a sport and the ultimate dream for thousands of athletes. Every four years an individual or team has the honour of competing for the ultimate prize in their sporting discipline, an Olympic gold medal. Premier Padel will be hosting its first padel tournament on African soil later this year. In what is a massive statement of intent by the new padel tour to truly take the sport global, they have selected Cario, Egypt as the host for their 3rd P1 event following events in Mendoza, Argentina and Madrid, Spain. Premier Padel is the new official world circuit of padel that is governed by the International Federation of Padel (FIP), supported by the Professional Padel Association (PPA) and Qatar Sports Investments (QSI) – today announced a new broadcast deal with SuperSport which will broadcast the tour to 54 countries in sub-Saharan Africa!   They will start their media coverage with the Ooredoo Qatar Major 2022, which starts on March 28 in Doha. The first padel shop in South Africa is now open for business! The aptly named The Padel Shop (now Padel SA) has been in the works for a long time with the hope of being open by Christmas, and with a lot of hard work and many sleepless nights managed to do so. The Padel Shop is an online store based in Cape Town, with delivery service country-wide. We currently stock some of the world’s biggest brands and are working on stocking even more. The first padel court in South Africa was launched at Val De Vie in Paarl on Saturday 2 November 2019, the same day the Springboks were playing in the rugby World Cup final in Japan. It was a scorching spring’s day to kick off an action-packed sports day, with padel taking centre stage as the new kid on the block.
