Wow, what a year that has been. Just going through the images over Christmas and realising that I'd covered quite a lot of locations. Many new, some returns, and even two that were going to be the last time. I shot quite a bit of film this year as well, 34 rolls (Double from 2022) which is quite a lot and also quite expensive to process, something I'm looking into doing in 2024 is to process my films, as I already scan and print. Dungiven - On one of our Photo walks From the New Series ‘ Watching the world go by’ On days out with Martin we also did a few street walks around some villages/tow ..read more

In the idyllic village of Garvagh, nestled in the heart of County Londonderry, Northern Ireland, stands a poignant reminder of a bygone era - the Ulster Bank. This unassuming building, once a bastion of financial stability and a hub of community interaction, now stands as a silent witness to the passage of time and the changing faces of its bank managers who, throughout the years, have woven its story into the fabric of the village's history. The Gorteen House was built around 1903 by the Boyle family as a large Edwardian villa, and at one point it was listed. Very little of the house was kept by the looks of this and the next image. Found this online (Credit unknown) When Gorteen was used as a house The bottom newel post where the stairs would have started. It was used as a hotel for many years with 27 – bedrooms, two restaurants, meeting rooms, and a popular nightclub that had its fair share of stars, such as Judge Jules and Sash! I also found online that it was listed in the Showbands-Dancehall listings as a venue for ..read more

This is one of those small finds while out driving country lanes looking for abandonments to photograph, not all are usually worth stopping, but I’ve found recently that I’m drawn to these as they are mostly forgotten about altogether. These two are an example of those finds. I also found an old wireless valve radio which sat on the shelf where it was probably there from new. The remains of a travel trunk, I wonder what it held and where it travelled to. And also a old picture of a young girl sitting on the windowsill. Not many items left but I did see a framed certificate still hanging pr ..read more

Surprising little find, as from the roadside it just looked like another row of farming buildings. But once inside through the thick hedge my eyes could adjust to the dim light I could see the bright decor colours, also there was plenty of personal effects to show what a wonderful home this was with the records and the literature within. I especially liked the written notes on how to set a table, something you don't see now-a-days. Feel free to like, comment and share. You can also find me on Instagram and Facebook Cheers for looking ..read more

With all the bad weather and tail-end storms we’ve been having lately and the typical Irish weather we have during the summer I thought this title was very apt, along with the lovely summery colour on the back wall. I can just imagine the wee old lady nipping out down to the shops on a rainy Monday morning for the weeks groceries. Now available in print ..read more

This is another nice little find when i was spending a few days house sitting for a friend, which give me a base to work from, about this time a few years ago. A few items found which show the simple things in life, like the daffodil teapot and the old labelled olive oil bottle, and the only personal item i really saw was the old framed picture still on the wall. The cow tailed pump above the belfast sink really shows the basic items in the kitchen in those days. Tho the newspaper was yet another historical find.   ..read more

I first explored here in 2009 and then it was in a bad way, unfortunately since then it has got alot worse and also very dangerous. There is plenty of history about the house online. I have a couple of images of the staircase from that visit available on my website for sale as the main staircase no longer exists. The Red Carpet The Red Carpet Pt.2 The footage is only of the flyover, I will possibly put together a stills, video and drone video in the future but this is my first attempt at video work. It’s a lot harder than I thought ..read more
