In his weekly Powered On newsletter, Mark Gurman expects the upcoming iPad Pro, which is expected to be announced at Apple’s “Let loose” event, will pack in the upcoming M4 chip, skipping the M3 chip altogether. At the same time, he also reports that the next-generation Apple Pencil will feature several improvements over the current second-generation Pencil. Last year saw no updates to the iPad lineup at all. The only iPad accessory that Apple announced was the USB-C model of the Apple Pencil, which is a separate model in the Pencil l ..read more

Back in October 2023, Apple introduced the latest series of M3 chips which provide substantial performance and efficiency improvements on many of Apple’s Macs, especially with hardware-accelerated graphics features. We haven’t seen any new iPads at all last year as the iPad Pro was last updated in October 2022 with the M2 chip. With that said, we initially expected the next iPad Pro to feature the M3 chip; however, Mark Gurman came out with another surprise for us in his weekly Powered On newsletter as he now expects the next iPad Pro to feature the ..read more

A few days ago, Apple announced its upcoming event for May where we can expect Apple to announce major updates to the iPad Air and iPad Pro. Now, The Independent reported that Apple’s upcoming event “will be accompanied by an event in London.” Although we don’t have further information on what this international event is for, this could be speculation that Apple will just hold hands-on briefings for its new iPads and accessories. The company has done this several times. The recent one happened in Toronto, Canada for the new MacBook Ai ..read more

Last week, reputable display analyst Ross Young came out with a surprise report that the upcoming larger iPad Air model would borrow the mini-LED display from the current larger iPad Pro. However, he now reports that will not be the case anymore. Due to the higher costs of producing those panels, Apple will choose to use the traditional LCD panels on the larger iPad Air model to reduce costs, expand the price gap between the new Air and Pro models further, and further differentiate the larger iPad Air from its Pro counterpart. The next iPad Pros are expected to feature OLED displays ..read more

Confused whether to pick the MacBook Air or the MacBook Pro? To save you and your bank account from the temptation to buy both (I know you secretly want to), we are listing the top 5 reasons to pick the former. When I was mostly certain about purchasing a MacBook Pro 16-inch with the M1 Max back in 2022, I was tempted by the portable 13-inch M2 MacBook Air to the point where I was considering getting the Air instead of the Pro. The 15-inch MacBook Air hadn’t been introduced at that time. However, I still chose the MacBook Pro because not only did it have a larger screen size, but also came in ..read more

How to get an app-like version of Threads on your iPad in 2024
Appleosophy

Threads, made by the folks over at Meta (Instagram and Facebook), was a social network that was launched last year. The social network works a lot like X (formerly known an Twitter) in the sense that it is a microblogging platform that allows for up to 500 words in a post, whereas X only allows for 280 characters (outside of X Premium). Threads also is tied to a user’s Instagram account, which does make it more personal in that regard. Just like with Instagram, Threads does not currently have an iPad app, which means users have to primarily post from a device like their iPhone or use the brows ..read more

It feels like the Super Bowl just ended and we’re already talking about the NFL Draft, which is where players from the college level (hopefully) get drafted by NFL teams. It will start at 8 p.m. ET on Thursday, April 25, which will be just the first round of the draft. From there, on Friday, April 26, starting at 7 p.m. ET, rounds two and three will be happening. Then on Saturday, April 27, starting a ..read more
