  On Thursday, May 2, 2024, Team Up Philly honored Black Women in Sport Foundation Co-founder Dr. Nikki Franke as their Jay Barry Harris Hero of the Year.  Team Up Philly honored Dr. Nikki Franke for her outstanding achievement in fencing and her dedication to empowering young girls through sports for over 50 years. Nikki Franke was s member of the 1976 and 1980 U.S. Olympic Fencing teams, and was the USA Fencing National Foil Champion in 1975 and 1980. (March 20, 2024) Black Women in Sport Foundation and Simon Gratz Mastery Charter hosted the 2nd Annual Lady Bulldogs Athletic & Leadership Conference. It was an awesome event! Approximately 100 African American girls and women of color participated. The Simon Gratz Student Ambassadors lead the conference planning, ice breaker and other exercises, created the motivational videos of student leaders and professional athletes, and were keynote speakers for the event. Celebrating Juneteenth at the Germantown Cricket Club (GCC) was like a tennis family reunion as Black Women in Sport Foundation President Tina Sloan Green and Husband Frank Green, Jr., reunited with lots of friends. Participants had fun on the tennis courts and off. The United States Tennis Association Middle States (USTA MS) gave out great swag to the youth and adults.
