eD-TEC, the electric boat company founded by a former Chief Strategy Officer at VW Group, has unveiled a new high performance electric RIB – named the eD 32 c-ultra RIB – that boasts 400kW peak power (≈ 540 hp) and can hit speeds up to 50 knots (90 kmh / 58 mph).
eD-TEC was founded by Michael Jost in 2021 after he left VW Group, where he was responsible for leading the company’s ‘transformation towards a sustainable and digital future’. The vision of eD-TEC is simple: ‘Electrify the Ocean’ and it builds both electric motors and electric boats to help achieve that.

Solar electric catamaran pioneer Silent-Yachts is launching a new model, the Silent 62 3-Deck, the first under a new ownership team led by American-German investor Michael Said, a Silent-Yachts client himself.
Majority owner Said acquired the assets of Silent-Yachts, including the intellectual property and the shipyard Silent Italia in Fano, through his acquisition vehicle Helios Yacht Investments GmbH.

Electric yacht builder Sialia Yachts has introduced their latest model, the Sialia 45 Sport, which joins 59 foot and 80 foot models in the company’s expanded lineup.
Sialia is a Polish yard founded by Stanislav Szadkowski and Tomasz Gackoski. Deutz AG today announced the successful completion of the Torqeedo Yamaha sale, in which the world’s leading electric boat motor company is now owned by the world’s largest manufacturer of outboards. There were no details on the monetary exchange, just that “the proceeds of the sale amount to a figure in the high double-digit millions of euros”.

Australia is joining the ranks of countries with entries in the electric yacht market as Genevo Marine gears up for the launch later this year of its 8.2 metre (27 foot) Genevo E8.
Genevo was founded by two experts in solar cell technology, energy storage and EV charging, Damon Rahmate and Andrew Davey, who worked with award-winning superyacht designer Misha Merzliakov to bring their marine ideas to life. Most of Merzliakov’s work has been on +30 metre yachts. This is his first dayboat and first electric commission.
