Guys guys guys! We’ve been painting silly things! The Avery O Design team had such a great three week project for the urgent care at the new Texas Children’s Hospital in North Austin. CAN YOU BELIEVE?!!! We were on Queer Eye! We met Bobby!! Shamazing! What a magical fantastical experience. It was such an honor to paint murals on THREE episodes of Netflix’s Queer Eye Austin and to work with Bobby Berk and his incredible design team. We painted an outdoor mural in the pouring down rain in two days and filmed with Bobby himself (episode 9). Dear Neighbors, I tried to fire myself the other day. It didn’t work. Most of my work life honestly is sunshine and rainbows. Dear Neighbors, I worked on some design options for a client today. “Love where you live.” I needed this reminder. I’ve had a lot of uncomfortable feels about my country lately. I find myself frustrated, angry and disappointed more often than proud. But I do still love where I live, and for me that means doing the work - through learning, protest, advocacy, philanthropy, and voting - to make a positive impact and fight for change where we need it.
