FOR CITY TIMES RUDOLPH — The Rudolph American Legion announces the 2024 Veteran’s Honor Walk on Main Street and Grotto Ave. in the Village of Rudolph. This year marks the 5th anniversary of the Honor Walk banners being displayed in the village to honor military veterans. This year there are 36 honorees on display in Rudolph. FOR CITY TIMES WISCONSIN RAPIDS — Wisconsin Rapids Family Center, in operation since 1984, is facing devastating cuts in federal funding. A vital resource to victims of domestic and sexual violence in our community will be forced to cut programs or decrease services when faced with a large federally-funded (Victims of Crime Act) cut of over $265,000 annually. Meanwhile, according to the 2022 Domestic Violence Homicide Report, there were 96 deaths due to domestic violence in Wisconsin in 2022, a 20 percent increase from the prior year. FOR CITY TIMES FRIENDSHIP – An inmate originally from another county died while in custody at the Adams County Jail. According to Sheriff Brent York, a 38-year-old male inmate was found unresponsive in his jail cell just after 6 p.m. on Monday July 15. Deputies immediately began lifesaving efforts. Lifestar Ambulance arrived at the jail four minutes later and took over lifesaving measures. Additional patrol deputies also assisted. FOR CITY TIMES WISCONSIN RAPIDS — The Wisconsin Department of Transportation has announced the intersection at WIS 54/73 and Wisconsin River Drive is now open to traffic, but motorists will encounter some new traffic patterns. FOR CITY TIMES FRIENDSHIP – Adams County Sheriff Brent York has confirmed the adult female found dead June 27 in Strongs Prairie was 62-year-old Sharon K. Miller, known by family and friends as Sharon Miller-Robinson. Investigators also located the body of her son, Jami L. Lumby, 37, at their residence. The manners of their deaths are pending autopsy, but are both being investigated as suspicious. FOR CITY TIMES FRIENDSHIP – On Thursday, June 27, at 8:19 a.m. the Adams County Sheriff’s Office received a call from an individual advising they had not been able to contact Sharon K. Miller, age 62, of Friendship for three days. The person advised she went to Sharon’s home located in the Adams County Town of Strongs Prairie, and that Sharon and Sharon’s son, Jami L.
